Hey all,

I currently pay my car tax by direct debit. It’s due to renew in October. The list price was over £40k so I’m paying the additional rate for the first 5 years (from the 2nd year it is taxed). That’s due to expire next year.

Now the car will be 6 years old in June 2023. My question is will my direct debit payments automatically reduce after this? Or do I need to keep paying the higher rate until October?

Originally the car would have been taxed June - June, but it was untaxed from June - October while in the dealership, before I bought it.

Cheers!

Pretty sure it'll update automatically. I'm in a similar situation (68) so September 24 for a well anticipated drop in Vehicle duty.
The date is shown on the front of the V5. I pay the duty monthly so I'm expecting when the DD mandate comes through it'll reflect the change.

You're worrying about something that might/might not happen in 14 months time ?!
