Looking at a second hand car, first time in years. Thoughts

After the demise of the WRX wagon, we took onboard the thoughts here.
The long term replacement will be a red pick-up, long story involving the iron will of my wife and son.

In the meantime we're looking at these.

Any thoughts?

They are local, in budget, and we've had an XC60 from new on a 13 plate so kind of like them.

Of those three, I'd go for the V70 as the D5 is a far better all rounder than the 2.4 petrol and the 1.6D. Much bigger car too and still drive well. Just watch the auto box and general tiredness in the suspension. V50's are great tools too not sure on those engine options. Plenty info on line on any of those options.

I drove this car yesterday, it was very loose and baggy.
A couple of Citreon C5 estates were really nice but loads of clunks and wobbles drove me away.

The earlier Volvo's earlier in the thread have been driven. They are softer than a melted marshmallow.

One thing which was pleasing were the blackberries. All around the yard are some of the best blackberries I've seen. Their yard is part of a secure compound in the woods. We were scrambling around for suitable receptacles to pick as many as we could! If only I had a bucket........

That’s a shame, it looks so good in the photo’s as well! Did you not have a drive of the Accord at the same dealer too? Oh well at least you got hold of some good blackberries!

Edit: is it a possibility that given your previous car, many might feel a bit soft in comparison?

Just to close this out.
We bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander. £3,500.

Very nice, especially the fact that the previous owner has left masses of awesome tunes loaded on the ICE's hard drive.

All good in this hood.
