There have been many threads on PH complaining about "the £500 oil change".

I've just been tracking down some new wipers for the car. Official blades come in at a hefty £70 so, unsurprisingly, I made a rapid U-turn.

I'd be interested to know what's the highest price anyone's paid for wipers? No doubt at the home of the £500 oil change....

My new Bosch Aerotwin blades just ordered from ebay at £22.23 for the pair, delivered.

My old RS6 (ie/ same as an A6) - I paid £50 for a pair of OEM from Audi. I tried Bosch aero and they were awful, switched back to OEM and so much better.

I didn’t pay it but I priced up a new set of wipers for my V60 and because they use a proprietary design (the blade wets itself and then wipes the screen - there are no jets for the windscreen) the RRP on a replacement set was £150. So I just put up with the squeaking.

I usually pay no more than £12 pair.
Avoid so called oem stuff like this , wipers are not made my car manufactureres , the same makes (Valeo ect) can usually be found at most auto parts stores at very much less.

I always bin the OEM blades on new or secondhand cars for Aero's as they are leagues ahead.

Certainly never paid more than £40 for a set with a bit of shopping around.

Under £40 including fitting. These are Bosch Aero ones, can’t complain.

60 for bmw ones. The vantage ones I believe are anything from 100 - 200.

I've the same set up on my V60 and was amazed how much replacements were, it was significantly cheaper to just change the rubber.

I once binned the original wiper blades and replaced with Bosche flat blades only to find out a few weeks later that Lexus wiper blades of that era were intended to have the rubbers replaced rather than the whole blade ditched... So that was £50ish instead of £5ish.

Around £30 on the net for Bosch aero or Valeo which are a touch better in my opinion.
Never had a problem with either brand on various cars.

My research suggested changing the blade wasn’t an option due to the design? Just had another look on wiperblades.co.uk and the RRP is now 120.

When I bought Mrs V.'s Mitsubishi i-car , the previous owner had it meticulously serviced and maintained at our local Mitsu dealer even though he lived 40+ miles away in Croydon. The wiper blade is a 28" (single bladed pantograph) and there was an invoice in the folder for a replacement blade and fitting for £74!

Upon further checking, the i-car uses the same wiper as on Citroen Berlingo/Pug Partner vans, as the wiper arm is about 2mm wider than standard arms. I now buy genuine Bosch items from Amazon for £12-15.

Halfords prices are another world - £30 per wiper sometimes and ECP with their crackwe marketing aren't much better.

My E34 has a strange reverse hook design for the driver's side wiper, and as such it would appear only Bosch make a set. At £50. No idea what BMW ones are. Still, I'd rather pay £50 than end up with some of the bodges that can be seen on them to get a standard wiper blade to fit.

Had my 5 series in for servicing years ago , drove down in the rai and the wipers were perfect.

Got a phone call saying they needed replacement as they were torn ( his words )

£65 + vat plus another £20 + vat for fitting.

I replaced them about 6 months later for £25 and a couple of minutes of my time.

I also have a V60 with the same wipers, and yes you can buy the rubber from Volvo for something like £40. It slides out of the blade.
Can't find the email when I ordered but just call Volvo up and ask. Definitely this is what you need to do as opposed to replacing the whole arm/blade assembly.

Took me a while to find this out, too!

I paid £46 for some OE BMW ones yonks ago.

The Bosch ones I initially bought from Halfords didn’t fit properly. The car had a little cover on the arm that hides the interface between the wiper and the arm. The ones from Halfords were too tall where the wiper mounts and as such you couldn’t fit the cover.

Yes I queried it with the dealer and they did it as a part of the service (sensible charge as well).
