Question in regards to parking restrictions

Am I right in assuming there is no restrictions for cars?

Whilst Sherman's interpretation is possible it doesn't seem logical (to me anyway). What kind of road allows ONLY cars to be parked and ONLY during the day?

Depending where the sign is, It may be they don't want lorries and big vans being parked in a residential street overnight.

That sign is generally according to figure 13-75 "Examples of signs indicating restrictions on waiting by goods vehicles and buses. You would need to read these signs in conjunction with any other signs or road markings, if any, relating to such as cars. It continues in the next para that if there are other restrictions it's recommended that signs for that be co-located alongside the goods and bus restriction sign, but I think that's only a recommendation. So on face value, given the above caveat, it's just goods >5t and buses restricted, cars not.

The number of small laybys on the A1, used by HGVs (and cars) for short or long breaks that've been blocked/bricked off or disappeared entirely is astonishing over the last 10-15 years...

Totally agree - many people want home deliveries and stocked shelves, but don't want the vans and lorries that deliver the goods..

All just money again. As has been said they’ve blocked off or restricted places for hgv’s to stop forcing them onto side roads which then people complain about so that gets restricted and forces them to pay at services. Yet more money paid out by haulage firms which then gets passed onto the consumers.

I once turned down a potentially lucrative delivery job because they wanted me to take a damn great van home with me each night, and park it outside my house so it would be safe.
