Hi guys,

In trying to get more detailed fault code info than Carly can give I've turned my car into a very expensive paperweight.

I've installed ISTA-P and was rummaging about and I've clearly done something I wasn't meant to as it has done some kind of update and now the car is utterly unresponsive.

I've been looking at various forums and there looks to be lots of different ways of trying to fix this but I have to be honest, I don't really understand much of what is being said. I have access to ISTA-P (though this won't communicate with the car anymore), INPA, NCS Expert, WinKFP and Toolset32.

For context, I had been using INPA a while ago but the computer that I was running it on packed in, I've just installed ISTA on a newer computer in the (possibly mistaken) assumption that it was more capable software. I've used INPA with some degree of success before but my understanding of coding/programming is rudimentary.

Is there something I can do here that someone could talk me through or do I just admit that I've f**ked it and call a specialist and cough up?

Thanks!

JakeT

If you said your understanding is rudimentary, don’t try and fix it yourself. You’ll probably make it worse.

Give Simon at Bavarian coding a call. He’s in Southampton but can travel. He’s very knowledgable.

Too little detail to advise. Are you able to start/open/connect with INPA or anything else?
What module was updated? Is the battery ok? Given you are not familiar with module flashing, might be better to ask for specialist help.
Isn't ISTA P for programming, why were you using for error code reads

What is it you were trying to do?

This sounds like sensible advice

Quite possibly if you've been updating modules without the appropriate high quality cables and a high current power supply that the update process has failed part way through while has left the module unable to start. It can be recovered by someone who knows what they're doing, not a job for the unskilled.

Update on this, my friend is on an E9x Facebook group and got in touch with an absolute hero who connected through TeamViewer, connected with WinKFP and fixed it. To say I am relieved is the understatement of the year.

Lesson learned, don't fiddle with things that you don't understand and can completely knacker the car!
