Kia EV6 Air - opinions

Looking for any views on the base model EV6.

My wife has the option of one as a company car but not the GT line models. I can't see any particular discussion on the forums about the Air so wondered if anyone had one and what their views were. Obviously I can see the spec difference of the website, but wanted to check whether it feels "poverty" spec.

Sorry GV, I can’t comment on the Air. As you say, what is on the spec sheet is what will matter for you. In terms of feel between trim ranges, I felt no difference between the GT Line and GT Line S (apart from more headroom in the GT Line due to no panoramic roof!).

Not sure how a car with the following as standard could possibly feel poverty spec in all honesty. Half of thme are optional on more expensive German cars..

19in alloy wheels
Automatic LED headlights
Heated/folding/dimming door mirrors
Heated front seats with adjustable lumbar support for the driver
Heated steering wheel
12.3in touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring,
Dual-zone air conditioning
Rear parking sensors
Rear-view camera.

Perhaps "poverty spec" was the wrong choice of words - probably better to have said "not full fat". But hopefully you understood what I was trying to say.

For example, I have a VW California Coast which has less kit than the ocean version - smaller wheels, manual roof, non-LED headlights etc. But it has everything I need (and was a lot cheaper!) and therefore i'm more than happy and don't feel like I'm missing out. I just wondered whether that was the view of others when it came to the Air EV6 - obviously understanding this is all subjective it's just that I couldn't see very much about the Air anywhere. I'm not even sure whether deliveries of this version have started yet.

Will you share that car? One thing I love in my wife’s car and hate that mine lacks: memory seats! I’ll be willing to pay for whatever spec has those when I finally replace my car. I think they start on the GT Line on the EV6. If you alone will drive it then the point is moot!

I feel that the GT Line is the sweet spot for me. It's big car with imperfect visibility, so the front parking sensors are too useful to overlook. I'm also completely sold on memory seats, with my wife's car being the first time we've had them. Getting back into my older vehicle after she's drive it is a faff!

The GT Line-S additions don't add up to the same value for me (plus the panoramic roof makes me hit my head, so it's a no-no there! )

It is a big car and the lack of front parking sensors is annoying. An ioniq 5 premium awd has just come up on the car options list so that's looking the slightly better option at the moment (albeit with a shuttle reduced range but more power).

Could be a good shout. Very airy and spacious interior. The EV6 is large, but doesn't feel it due to darker hues and a lower roofline. More room in the Ioniq for rear passengers, and moveable bench increases boot/passenger room as required, which I'd find a useful feature.

Cynical not to make the heat pump even an option. Given it has most of the h/w needed already in the A/C system it should be standard.

Didn't know I need adaptive headlights but I would like to be warm in winter without a range penalty.
