When I started work I set up a couple of hbos stocks and shares isas

I have two, one with 9k in and the other 3k

I don’t need the money, but I wondered if I’m better drawing the money out now and re investing in the near future (this is all on the assumption that stock value falls in a recession)

Or is it best to just leave it / do something else with it

Any ideas most welcome, I’m good at putting money aside, but not always best at making it work as hard as it probably should

Many thanks

I’m in a similar position. I took out a stocks & shares ISA with £5k 18 months ago, it soon reached over £6k but it is currently £5.8k. Thinking if cashing it in until we see where any recession takes us.

Keep paying into it and rely on time in the market .

You won't be able to predict the ideal time to buy back in or sell so just drip feed money in and ride the dips and troughs.

What's in them and when did you open them?

Yes - it's not the fact they are S&S ISAs as such, but what the money is invested in that matters. Also see what all the costs and charges add up to. For example, if they grow by 4% in a year but the fees are 1%, you've lost a quarter of the gain...

Time in the market beats timing the market in every possible study done on this. Some of the best gains happen during the bottom of the market and you won't be able to time when that happens. If you don't need the money just drop feed money into it over time.

Hi all thanks for the responses and apologies for the delay in thanks

Here are the details

Not really sure if it’s best to leave as is, or draw out now and put back into something similar if a recession makes things rough.

Many thanks

Halifax will have dealing fees to buy and sell and those screenshots don't make it clear what the actual investment are.

Broadly speaking if you're not trying to be smart (what's your edge?) go global and don't try and time the market.
