Hi all,

I bought a Cupra 300 nearly a year ago - 2 previous owners, an ex-demo car, less than 40k on the clock. This is my 2nd Cupra, I had a 290 a year back.

I did a HPI check on the car before I bought it as I was buying it privately, and it came back all clear.

I noticed a few months ago the two panels on the side don't align (where the ridge is), they are out ever so slightly.

Is it possible it has been in a crash? I remember I found the first owner on FB by coincidence not long after I bought it, and explained I have his old Cupra and he blocked me, so I am worried he was sketchy (the guy I bought it off, 2nd owner, was nice as pie however and took really good care of it).

Appreciate any and all opinions, I get easily paranoid so just want to hear what others think regarding if this is normal or not.

If you're really bothered, buy a paint thickness meter and check.

You do know that a HPI check doesn't tell you anything about repairs done by an Insurance company is they choose NOT to write it off ?

I always laugh at car salesmen, when they tell me it's never been in an accident and theyve done a you check to prove it.

Im not an expert at all but i always lift the bonnet and check all the bolts that hold the wings/front end on. If its been in an accident then those bolts won't look factory iykwim.
Im sure its ok though.

Looks like that wing is going to fall off at any minute!!!
Seriously, I dare say the factory probably has less tolerance on the gaps and alignment compared to the more expensive Audi brands.

Probably better never to drive it again just to be on the safe side. On a positive note, you'll save a small fortune in fuel.

Does it matter? Most cars will have had paint, many before they leave the showroom for the first time. I would say yours has had a wing replaced at some time. It really isn't worth worrying about.

I’d be more concerned your neighbours Renault Captur boot shut line doesn’t match up.
