F10 boot stuck shut

Anyone able to advise how I get the boot open please?
This is a UK car so there is no emergency pull handle inside like the US mandates. There is also no valet mode switch inside the centre arm rest.
I can get the seats down to inspect the lock. I can hear it click when the remote or boot lid button is pressed.
I can’t get to any bolts to manually release anything from the looks of it, at least not without having to cut open the carpet on the boot lid.
Some Googling suggests the likely culprit is the soft close motor preventing the lock from opening.
Anyone have this issue and sort it?
