Planning to some winter work on my car including new veneers as my B/inlaw does it for a living. Can anyone tell me how to get the dash board off on a late s2 350.

Cheers

Dead easy.... if you have hands like a paedophile!

Do you? If so...

There is a GRP 'shelf' moulded into the shell just below the windscreen. Two slots are cut into this shelf, about a foot in from the A pillars.
The dash rests on the shelf, and has two studs glassed in to the underside, that engage with the shelf slots. Nyloc nuts and large washers on the studs clamp the dash against the shelf.
So, to remove dash, you first need to extract the instrument panel and disconnect the speedo cable and wiring. Then unscrew the fusebox if it's at the back of the glovebox. With that lot out of the way, you can lie on your back in the footwells and locate the Nyloc nuts holding the dash in place. The O/S one is easy to see, but the N/S one is above the glovebox. You can't get to it through the glovebox, you have to work your hand up the back with a suitable spanner. The wiper motor may get in your way. So will the wiring loom, immobiliser, tracker etc...
You'll also need to pull the centre console out of the way and maybe remove the steering wheel & column shrouds.

Hope this helps!

Wedgie, you make it sound so simple.
If you want the wood bit off it should just pull out as on mine it has bolts fixed to the metal back which slot into plastic caps in the metal panel behind in the dash.
If you need to get further back the metal panel exposed when the wood is out is riveted in place and I think it was Steve H who sudjested drilling these rivets out on an earlier thread.
Otherwise its quite a time consuming job to remove the whole thing from what others have said.

Thanks guys - did the job. The veneered piece was screwed into the dash using 3 bolts. I undid the 2 dash bolts by both footwells, the 2 screws holding in the centre console and the whole dash came away. Got a 10mm spanner behind the dash and undid the bolts - the veneered piece then came away.

What I plan to do is re-veneer the dash and centre console. I also plan to fit a push button starter into the centre console where there is currently a blanked off switch.

I'll keep you posted on what happens next.
