Thinking of switching as companion voucher on blue now st. Anyone else done this? What was the process, did they migrate credit limit etc and did it hit your credit record as a search?

I got the wife to get one. I've cancelled my blue one and after six months I can get the black one and qualify for the joining bonus points.

As above, easy to switch, but you'll lose out on 'new joiner' bonus of 25k avios, so better to get partner (if you have one) to get it in their name and give you a second card.

Ah right, useful thanks guys. I'm probably more inclined to just switch in that case as I've got a truckload of avios already and worried about them dropping credit limit back down on a new account, or did they give you a decent credit limit when starting from scratch again?

I did this a few years ago and given I needed a credit card just closed my blue account and opened a black one straight away. Yes I missed out on the new joiner bonus but with the additional points I made that up pretty quickly (also helped I referred a couple of people too).

Work out how much you spend and whether the annual fee will translate into an equivalent benefit in Avios. Also keep an eye on the members offers - some great ones on the app including instant cashback.
