Vantage Exhaust

Good morning all , I have a Larini sports exhaust that came off my 06 4.3 Vantage that I am looking to sell , does anyone have an idea of value for this ? It is in excellent condition ( its polished stainless steel ) and comes with the donuts also , when I sold the car the buyer didn't want the exhaust and I have been keeping it thinking I will get another Aston at some point but it probably won't ever happen ! The exhaust is the ' middle one ' in terms of the sound , not excessively loud and will pass an MOT no problem but it makes the car sound like a proper Aston and is a big upgrade from the ' fuse 22 ' exhaust Any thoughts or offers very welcome , it is located near Stratford on Avon Thanks in advance , Ian

Does it have the by-pass valve actuation, or is it always 'loud' ?

I already have a very loud exhaust myself on my 4.3 2006, but it doesn't have the by-pass valves, so I wish I could turn it down on the very odd occasion.

As regards value, difficult to put a price, but I think the AM back boxes go for anywhere upwards of £300 on fleabay and places like that. So assume yours would be higher and more desirable.

It doesn't have valves so it is always the same volume , like I say though it isn't super loud but it is more aggressive than the standard even with fuse 22 out

I had a look on ebay and there is one where the seller is asking £ 1600 but that is a full system and a Quicksilver one on at £ 1,200 and another at £ 1,000 that is just a back box like my one

I guess I can try it at around that and see , I think some people like the aggressive sound ( I did , the standard one is too quiet in my book ) but others like it all original I guess

i have a larini non valved on my V12S Vantage, and it sounds awesome, it is loud on the beans though

I have Larini valved on my V8 Vantage. Sounds great, not a huge difference with or without the fuse.

If the only exhaust change on your car, is the aftermarket silencer (without exhaust valves), you may be interested in an alternative approach, which does retain exhaust valves.

I think my understanding of the following is correct, but best to check the precise details.

From 2005 until approx 2010, the exhausts only had one pair of catalysts, shown in the photo below.
On either side of the centre LAMBA sensor sockets, are two internal 'mesh bricks'. One is 900 cell and the other is 400 cell.
By removing the internal 900 cell 'brick', you will then obviously have a 400 cell catalyst.
The result is an enhanced 'orchestra', quite loud enough on full throttle (especially under a bridge), with an occasional discrete pop when changing up at high revs, but still as quiet as the car was originally in the cabin at steady throttle.

Back box silencer still standard, so valves remain available. It needs an ECU amendment and could have a 3-way switch to deal with all valve preferences.

From part way through Model Year 2010, legislation changes required two more catalysts fitted in the manifolds. Those cars therefore have different secondary catalysts.


The up to 2010 cars therefore have a very economical and simple way of enhancing the original AM exhaust sound when accelerating, whilst also providing no noticeable difference, when being driven gently, or at a steady speed.

I have a really nice Vantage number plate also that I will be looking to sell as soon as the retention document comes back also so watch this space !
