Need to re lubricate the outside of my pads ( obviously not the parts which touch the disc )
Copper grease is OK right?

How about the sliders? As they have a rubber bushing, silicone is best right ?

Trying to fix some annoying squeaks on me brakes.

Thanks

Copperslip for the outside of the pads, it's an anti seize compound rather than a lubricant. For the sliders,or anything that comes into contact with rubber I use red grease, for anything else that needs greasing, a light touch of regular lithium grease (toolstation, £4.64 for a 400g cartridge).

Ceratec grease. Either mintex or pagid. That's the best stuff to use.

I had a similar question about what to lube sliding pins with, I got a range of answers. In the end the new sliding pins came with a sachet of silicon (silicone?) grease so that’s what I used.

Thanka guys I'm going to be cleaning my brakes due to squeaking.
Bucket of water, wire brush, brake cleaner. Anything else ?

I have copper grease and silicone, but before I do anything I was told on another forum not to grease anything other than sliders

I'm confused as to what you need the bucket if water for?

Copper grease. Put that in the bin. Get the stuff I mentioned above.

Put it on the slide pins, the backs of the pads and the tabs on the pads where they 'hook' into the calipers.

Do you guys recommend using ceramic grease on the inner part of the discs here ( around where the holes are,  )?

Looking at the autodoc tutorials they use ceramic grease on the inside part of the discs

This is what my disc looked like just before I put everything back together... As you can see the previous mechanic used a silly amount of copper grease of which I cleaned some of it off.... There was copper grease all over the backs of the pads which I cleaned off..

I put a thin smear of copper grease on there.

Anything with a high viscosity and melting point is probably fine TBH, it's not doing anything other than rust inhibiting so there's no point using anything fancy, the factory uses nothing.

Cool thanks smile

Look how much copper grease the mechanic used, ridiculous amounts...

Think I'll go elsewhere next time !

If you look at the cog right in the middle, they've used a load of copper grease on there too. Won't do any harm no ?

I used this succinct but thorough video to do the (identical FS III) brakes on my Seat Mii a couple of weeks ago:

Can't go wrong with Cera tec/Hydra Tec/Permatex ceramic for lube on guide pins and metal to metal contact points. Just use sparingly....in so many YouTube videos they not only use outmoded copper grease they lather it on while at the same time saying only put a small amount on!

Also if the pads have shims as they appear yours do, I wouldn't put any lube on the back of the pads.

Aluminium anti seize is the best IMO. I've used it for the last 10 years and everything comes off easily when required.
