Took Archie van out seeking Revenge...
Revenge is a Ford C Cab hot rod.
It was built by a famous hot rod builder, Nick Butler, nearly fifty years ago. The current owner is covering 1000 miles in a week raising awareness of and donations for the mental health charity MIND. That might not sound a big deal to an owner of a brand new Corsa, for example, but 1000 miles in an 800 brake hot rod, with no windows, a vertical steering column and nowhere to put your feet...

A few of us met up with them at a short break at the Atwell-Wilson Museum in Calne.

And, Yes, I am well aware that it's not as fast as your 330D, isn't practical and you don't like the colour or the lack of air bags - nobody cares. Just posting to highlight a charity run in a good cause that may interest some on here.

I can see why 1,000 miles in Revenge must be quite a challenge!

Nice to see some support for a good cause too.

It's certainly of its time... gold leaf under clear lacquer, I believe.

My old hot rod would wear me out over about seventy miles, I'd then need a rest before continuing, thankfully that was about the distance from our place to Shakespeare County Raceway. Without power assisted brakes, steering and the like, and with no modern creature comforts they can be a bit of a work out. Much like riding a motorcycle in bad conditions, they remind you of your mortality. Covering a 1000 miles in a week in the current heat is quite an achievement.

Nick Butler was my hero in the days of Custom Car cloud9cloud9 So many good memories of that magazine. The cars, the cover girls, the writing style - good times. Nick did so many iconic Rods - he was our Boyd Coddington.

Revenge, along with Nykilodeon and Andromeda at Nick Butler's Auto Imagination earlier this week, yes, he's still working... count the horses, one thousand... two thousand... ha, ha! Glad I'm not paying the fuel bill. Pic's not mine, lifted off the net, probably one of Sam Evans'.

And one of my old Jag powered '36 Austin, with its fully adjustable, four bar, dropped front end... courtesy of... you guessed it...

Crikey, that takes me back a bit!

I can remember seeing Nickelodeon in Custom Car and later in the metal at the Southern Roadsters Rod Run at Beaulieu many years ago.

Nick's cars were outlandish, but "right". Good to hear that he's still around.
