Hi all

I have a long term hire car (C5 SUV hybrid) which came with the wall charger cable but my firm won't install a wall charger.

I don't think they'll pay for a pin charging cable either so will need to get my own.

I see them on ebay for £125. Are they safe or am I risking disaster?

You're better off getting a known make from Screwfix

I have the 10m lead version of that Masterplug one from Screwfix.

Can't fault it, and it was cheaper than anything new on eBay at the time. The extra cable gives a lot more flexibility on parking, if that's important to you.

I had one from EV Extras which has been great but more expensive than the screwfix one.

I now understand why Tesla has stopped providing them for free with new cars, they are like mobile phone chargers, we’ve got 4 in the house and only one EV and one PHEV.

1x from each car (never used)
1x cheap Ohme one through Octopus (bought to give us charger-side scheduling for the PHEV and Octopus Go)
1x 10m masterplug one (for travelling with, incase we can’t get as near the property as we can at home)

Add in the MyZappi wall charger that we mainly charge the Model 3 with and it starts to look a bit ridiculous.
