Yesterday, at Eurotunnel in Folkestone, in a lane all to themselves were 21 Kia Niro Hybrids and three Ford Mondeo Estates. The occupants of the two cars that I saw were bald men in black cargo trousers and black shirts with epaulettes.

The Kias all had consecutive, or near consecutive '71' registrations, and 17 were black, two white, one grey and one light blue (with a dented wing).

Every car had a two-digit number printed on a yellow square hung in the back window a bit like a Post-It but slightly bigger.

They all loaded before us (at least, I assume that's where they went), and I never saw them again.

Any ideas what they were doing? I'm assuming they were Customs or something, but don't know where they were headed.

My guess would be they were going to France, probably Calais.

Just a hunch..

I would assume running drugs across to France by cleverly using an unassuming car like a Kia to go totally under the radar and unnoticed by anyone.

"I don't know" ≠ "please tell me".

But he told you what they were doing - boarding a train and travelling to France!
Anyway, I’m intrigued as to the purpose of their journey (and not in an international ’why did the chicken cross the channel’ kind of way). We need answers dammit!

Always thought that was a strange term. Is that a verb? To hench, he henched, they henched, that was a good bit of henching you did there…

As I say; I wondered if it was mundane and they were just travelling to a Customs post, but surely they'd have used a couple of minubusses for that.

Dinghy trips are so passé now. Easier to click and collect and get Customs to come and pick you up.

I saw a documentary once about crims using construction lorries to escape down a tunnel with a load of stolen gold. There was a bald chap in a vest chased them down.
These are probably smuggling some other contraband in the Niros. Maybe a few KW of priceless electricity? Have you seen any baldy chaps wearing a vest?
They wouldn’t be real hardened crims though because they would use the full-fat eNiro EV rather than hybrids, you’ve only got to look at the PH EV threads to understand what a real nasty badass is.

One of them had some sandwiches wrapped in tinfoil and a paperback novel approximately three inches thick.

My wife said "I bet you that book's all about wizards, dragons and virgins."

We saw the exact same thing back in early July, seemed to be a lot of grey hair and a waft of lavender about the drivers & passangers then.

Sorry, long time lurker smile It just struck us as odd and couldn't figure out if it was some Kia sponsored invasion of France over pensions
