Rule 22 review?
Discussion
Is it possible that the bit of posting rule 22 in bold could be reviewed?
22: You may not promote charity events; recruit for charitable donations surveys or petitions; or seek votes for competitions.
Many PH contributors use their cars for worthy causes: to give rides, raise funds or otherwise promote charities; couldn't PH give them a bit of help?

What if it became: 22: You may not promote charity events; recruit for charitable donations surveys or petitions; or seek votes for competitions.

22: You may not promote charity events; recruit for charitable donations, surveys or petitions; or seek votes for competitions before the event. If you have used your personal vehicle in support of a good cause you may report on it after the event, without including a direct request for donations or links to products to purchase

How about allowing them only in the 'Events' forum, same way as discussing business is allowed only in the Business forum (possibly only in one sticky thread, as used to be the case for YouTube video links, or in a 'charitable events' sub-forum)?
I would prefer a 'Your Charitable Car Campaigns' sticky in General Gassing where posts are likely to be seen by far more people. This is something that is asked a few times a year, however I'm afraid we won't be changing the rule, because it can start to get messy quite quickly. It's much easier to have a blanket rule that keeps things simple for the mods.

Links in profiles are acceptable. I think in both the cases you mention the links were in the profiles.- One was a thread about the Lejog walk, where the OP included a mention that he was raising money and put a link in his profile. There were links to the fundraising posted in the thread but these were removed by the moderation team (and the OP took the hint and complied with the posting rules thereafter).
- In the second case the poster created a thread specifically about his fundraising (with links to the GoFundMe page) and then mentioned it (along with the link) pretty much any time he posted, on multiple threads. His original thread and other mentions were deleted by the moderation team, but he continues to have a link in his profile.
