Daytime MOT, what exactly is that?
Discussion
I'm thinking more about the motorcycles that seem to have these and go across open land mainly, but a car i fancy buying has no main lights at present and will only ever be a fun car, not practical.
I'm thinking that ''Daytime'' might be the wrong word officially but what is the minimum requirement for a vehicle, lights-wise to get the ability to share the public roads, anyone know? Can you in fact have a car on the road with no headlights, just a horn and i dunno, what else?

Different for cars and motorcycles, but on a bike there's no requirement to have any lights at all.
That said, if you do have lights which don't work, they often have to be "permanently" disabled by removing switchgear etc to get the MOT, just presenting it without a bulb in or unplugged doesn't usually work.
You're also right that it's not a "daytime" MOT, just an advisory to say must only be used in daylight. Once you're out and about that's your prerogative to be careful of.

Headlamps and position lamps that are disconnected or masked off do not need to be tested if the vehicle is only used in daylight hours and not in poor visibility. This is only from a MOT point of view, not Construction and Use regs which are not the same thing.
It would be interesting to get a view from the police.
