Looking to sell a 2 year old very high spec Porsche Taycan 4S in immaculate condition. WBAC have come back with the highest price so far. Motorway who I have used before now come up with extremely low figures so have gone a bit strange. Car Wow were also pretty low. WBAC seem to be the best so far.

How else have you sold your cars - any other service out there except collecting cars who are pretty picky as to what they would list and also you are not assured a sale if the reserve is not met?

Put on Carwow with a high asking / reserve price, everybody else on there does.

WBAC - £39000 (knocked £180) off at appointment. It was a positive experience and not what I expected.
Cazoo - £32000
Collecting Cars - too long a process. A mate didn't have a great experience. Pressure for a no reserve auction. Buyer took ages to pay and collect.

Ended up selling to an independent trader for £500 more than WBAC and they collected the next day.

I have used Collecting Cars, you would probably get a bit more but a faff.

Dealer told me Motorway was good.

Try a well priced private add for a week on AT. Just sold my car in a day getting 10% more than WBAC.

Have you tried an OPC or indi specialist? Pork residuals are strong so might be worth giving them a go.

I sold my Taycan about 6 weeks ago

Tried all the sites - offers were poor I.e. £15k to £25k behind what they were being advertised retail at.

I popped it on Autotrader and just took their suggested price which was about £10k more than WBAC and £10k less than retail. I did not change it a penny (leaving the odd price rounding) just trusted their algorithm.

I listed it at about 9pm in the evening - it was sold by 7:30am in the morning to a trader - we settled on about £700 less than listed price.

It still had factory warranty, been serviced etc, now listed on Autotrader for £7.5k more.

List it on Autotrader at their suggest price.

Local dealer is always the first call i would have thought, especially considering the massive shortage of used cars.

Yep, agree local dealer would be my first (well armed with WBAC etc quotes) option too.

That’s what I did last October with my Mum’s car. Cazoo were the highest online option, but the dealer (although it was a 4 year old car) beat them by 10%. Money transferred whilst I was in the showroom, no fees, in and out in 20 mins.

Try them all. There is no best option.

Varies according to the car/age/mileage etc etc

last year I sold my AMG via The Car Buying Group, they were the best compared to all the others out there. This week i wanted to sell my BM and tried all the usual suspects and this time WBAC came out way on top as far as proices were concerned. However i wasnt in a rush to sell so thought i'd have a punt at an A/Trader ad, simiar to above i just went with the suggested price and my phone rang off the hook! Indi's and dealerships phoning one after the other. In the end sold it to a dealership for well above WBAC.

I think it's worth noting that WBAC and Motorway are entirely different sales processes. WBAC are giving you an offer for your car, they'll then inspect and adjust the offer dependent on condition and that's the offer you can either take or leave.

Motorway tell you what they think the car will sell for, you give them an indication of your minimum sales price, provide them with an array of photos at specific angles (as the app guides you through) and then they put the ad out to their dealer network and run an auction. The winning bid is then sent to you and you're given the option to take it or walk away with no costs.

WBAC = £x is the price if it's mint condition, deductions taken for any damages.
Motorway = £x is an estimate, you might get 10% more or the bids might come in lower.

I think CarWow runs the same way as Motorway but haven't had any involvement with them.

Anyway, I'd take the above posters advice and stick it on AT for a price you'd be happy with and see what happens.

The problem with trying to sell to main dealers is that you rarely get to speak to the person who's actual job it is to source stock.

You mostly get put through to the sales manager who think's they'll prove they're clever by buying a cheap car, and then get to brag to the actual company buyer that they bought a cheap car.

I was a buyer for a Renault garage, I got sick of sales staff doing this.

It was difficult to buy 10 nice used Renaults per week, and the sales staff were driving sellers away with silly offers for cars that I would have given full Cap clean for, or often over Cap clean.

What I'm trying to get across is, when phoning the main dealer, ask to speak to the underwriter, or the company stock buyer, not the sales staff.

You're looking to sell one of the most in demand and lowest depreciating cars on the market. 2020 cars with 40k miles are still being advertsied above list with many still around the £100k mark.

If you want it gone quickly call the dealer you bought from and ask them if they want to buy it back. If not confirm what the main dealers are pricing at and stick it on AT for a few grand less, it'll be gone in no time

That was a different time and with a very different type of stock i'd suggest. People have been getting daft offers for far more normal cars from dealers recently, let alone a car like the Taycan with a lengthly waiting list and ever growing demand.

Thanks guys - was made an offer buy a dealer who bought my old Range Rover today - higher than WBAC and money in bank on Monday. Collecting cars looked like a good option but my god they are slow!

Anyone sold through Motorway lately, and did you get their suggested reserve ?

I’ve a nearly new hot hatch and the motorway reserve looks decent, but I’m worried it’s just high to lure sellers in, and the auction prices ends up lower.

It’s actually slightly higher than the autotrader suggested private sale price, and about 10% higher than WBAC and Carzoo.

Tried to sell my RRS through them, reserve about £7k less than retail, ended up being bid £7k less than reserve.

Needless to say it still sits on my drive.
