Replacement for Seiko 5. CWC/MWC?
Discussion
Guys,
Seiko 5's are long-lasting, tough and dependable things, huh? Well my second one has just packed up. OK, it's not packed up; it still tells the time (losing about a minute a day, as it always has done) but the energy-storing mechanism (spring, presumably) won't hold it's energy overnight. So every morning when I put it on then it's stopped and the time needs to be set again.
My Amazon order history tells me that I ordered it in January 2017, so 5 years ago. And it was bought as a replacement for an identical watch which lasted me just under four years. OK, so it did better than the predecessor and it was worn all day every day so perhaps I shouldn't grumble. For reference, they were both SNK809K2 models and look like this:

To my horror, it seems that they now cost £200 on Amazon! £200! The one five years ago was £50, and I remember that as being £10 more expensive than the previous one at £40. That's inflation for you ....
So, what to replace it with? Budget? Less than £100. And I'm picky about watches; I really don't like most of them. Dark face, small, un-showy, has to have a date window. And I've come across some MWC and CWC watches which I quite like. It seems that there are a number of models which all appear similar.
So, whcih to choose - MWC or CWC? Some people say that the CWC is the real deal and the MWC is an imitation, some say that that's not true. What else is there along these lines which is likely to last a long time and not break the bank?
Thanks.
