Just a quick thought, but would it be a good idea to have a small section where we submit our best insurance quotes. I.E. Area, car, company, cover, conditions. For others to see. We all need insurance and it is hard to get it cheap. The only reason I bring this up now is I recently got my inetgrale premium halved by being with the right company.

Maybe a list like this would help us look for someone in a similar situation, compare prices, save money. Simple.

£859 with Adrian Flux. 3 years no claims, garaged with a Clifford cat 1 alarm. I'm 23 and live in Wigan.

Just be gentle with your right foot mate. I wasn't and I'm paying the price by having no car at the moment. Have fun by all means but try not to become uninsurable, its just not worth it. £2000 for a mini 1000 is the best quote I can get.

As i've said on a couple of other threads I'll be getting a towing car so probably a Renault Laguna or a Peugot 405, has to be diesel!

The reason for this is because then I have nothing to prove, no 'street cred' too uphold as I have a westfield as my other car!

So I can pootle about within the speed limit and when i get to a track or airfield, go hell for leather with the fun pedal as much as I want!

That's my theory anyway!

I think the six points and slapped up Fiesta might have something to do with it

My TVR S2, garaged, in Basingstoke, 3000 mile limit, value £6k, no alarm/immob, without any no-claims on the policy, £267. Classic Policy.

An extra 2000 miles would cost another £80

Classicline..

I snapped their hand off at that offer, given that Sunninghill had just quoted me over £1200 for the same cover.

Carzee, I to am insured by Classic Line and have a 5000 mile per year limit. I had assumed that I would never cover that sort of milage in the Lotus, but now I find myself having to be very selective with its use. I have been ringing around and have been offered a more competitive quote with unlimited milage by Footman James, although this is in conjunction with Club Lotus, I'm sure that the TVR Club has a similar deal, maybe worth a try, as the mileage limit can cause problems.

Simon, I have thought seriously about this.. after all, I'm going to Angelsey in it this weekend.. over 500 mile round trip before I even take the car on the circuit..

However, after that I hope to be taking the car off the road for the next few months for some work.. I plan some work in the heads and chassis...

After that, if I've also managed to fix my odometer I'll start counting down the miles..

The Tiv will *never* be my day to day car - it'll be sunday blasts and PH meets only, really. I haven't got the time (or money) at this point in my life to devote to maintaining the car to the extent that I could realistically use it for 6 or 12k miles a year..

£680 Fully comp £125 excess with AXA.
Not bad for my age, even though my car is only an Astra.
Clean License
Full 3 years No claims
No accidents within last 5 years
Sd&p + commuting
Car is insurance group 12.
Insured for £3,000
Shrewsbury is not exactly crime central.

Worst quote came out at £3,485 fully comp £450 excess from Norwich Union????
The AA Quoted £1,750
Budget: £1500
Direct Line: £945

Phoned about 40 companies from various adverts in magazines.

Churchill didn't want to know and declined to offer me a quote, as did E-sure, Hastings and elephant.co.uk.

I tried one of those "we'll beat any price" companies (dodgy b&w add in the autotrader) Told the bloke the AXA quote and he put the phone down on me????

There used to be a register of insurance quotes for TVRs at www.ratsey.com - but I have a feeling it has demised in recent months. Maybe PH needs a replacement...

Just thought I'd add my best comedy quote. It was when I bought my GTIR, the quote: £9674 I was trying to explain that the car was only worth £5000 but it didn't seem to matter
