Hi. I have an old TV that I'd like to mount in my garage. It's for a home gym, and I'd like it to be able slide flat to the wall, approx. 1.2 m from left-right extremities.

I have not been able to find such a product online. Am I being useless at using a search engine, or does such a product really not exist? It does not seem that it should be challenging, so perhaps it's just that there's not a large market for such a set up?

Thanks in advance!

Are you saying you want it to slide parallel to the wall? If so I doubt it's a common requirement which is why you're struggling to find a solution.

What about a wall mount with 2 swival joints? Intended to allow TV to be positioned out from wall & parallel or folded back against wall, but could be used as you require. Although TV would never be completely flat against the wall - always a gap between back of TV & wall. A friend uses one to pull his TV out from the wall & to one side. Plenty available on Amazon & other web-sites.

Yep. That was my fear. It just seems so simple! Why does nobody else need what I do‽ irked (Treadmill and bike next to each other, facing same wall. Would be nice to roll screen between eyeline of each of them.)

I guess I’ll see what I can make work with standard solutions.

Would this work? It says it can slide the tv side to side:

There is a similar one that also tilts the tv.

Ooh, that looks promising! Thanks Scrump! Not sure how I missed that when looking on Screwfix (and many, many other sites!) over the weekend. Concrete fixing are perfect for the garage. Just need to find the option for a slightly smaller screen. Thank you! thumbup

ETA: not sure how far it slides, having read the install. I think it may be minimal adjustment for centring, unfortunately. frown

Meh, think I need to just stick with something that’s been invented already: wheels. I’ll lose 0.5 m from the garage width in that area, but what the hey.

You're right. What you want to do is almost unique to you. It's certainly niche enough that no manufacturer is interested in making a product.

If you don't have room to pull the TV forward in order to move it left or right then there are rail systems that could be adapted for use. Something like this would provide you up to 0.9m of travel. LINK These would be fixed to the wall, then the TV bracket wall plate would be fixed to these.

Where you can pull the TV forward whilst executing the move then a regular cantilever wall bracket might do the trick LINK

That's the type of mounting bracket I suggested in the 3rd post!

Thanks folks.

For standard brackets, I was thinking of trying this. Cheap if it fails.

I was thinking of building a custom system, but the thought of creating my own lock-off seemed a pain. Those bearings will allow slide if it is not perfectly horizontal, in my experience

Hmm...interesting idea. I'll have a look through our box of odds-and-sods at work and see what I can pilfer. Plenty of igus liners knocking about the place, so a good start there!

And I assumed that as the OP had posted on PH he had access to a computer/tablet/smartphone & hence Amazon & Google. An Amazon search for "TV mount double" immediately brings up a number of choices. As does a Google search.

You say you want about 1.2m of movement - is that how far you want the center of the TV to move? The one you linked extends out about 450mm so might give you 900mm left to right movement if the joints are articulated to open flat. There are some that extend further but it's a case of hunting through the descriptions. This one claims to extend out 760mm so maybe you could get a horizontal shift of 1500ish from it:

This one does 500mm

There are more professional solutions but you're talking £300 so you probably don't wantto splash that much:

Thank you. That (or one of its brethren) may prove suitable.
