Who's driven over 170mph on 'private roads' of course...

and how would you describe the feeling?

165 with loads left under my foot, felt good. wife and kid's didn't mind as they were asleep.

Darn it. Did 160 3 weeks ago but had windows open and a fly? hit my on the neck. Boy did it hurt.

After this post will have to try for 170 but, mental note, will do it with the windows up.

It felt fantastic but couldn't help but think that if a tyre blew I would be dead.

I have been in a Cerb doing 175 (at Elvington) & it felt better than a Tuscan at the same sort of speed....

I have "only" done 165 in ours and it was still pulling like a train & felt very well planted - backed off when I ran out of track (a slower car didn't see me coming & moved onto my path.....)

Hit 170 on the clock at Elvington but the radar reported that it was 155. However, now I've got the satnav thingy, the Cerb I've got now has got a pretty accurate speedo which has seen 168 before running out of "track"

I ditto the comment about thinking of the tyres but I can't help but be amazed at just how fast the scenery goes past.

Wasn't there some bloke whp got done recently for bragging about avoiding a speeding ticket on an internet forum and got nicked for it? I think that was for lying to the courts, but still.

Anyway, I may have done.. not that the speedo was calibrated so I don't know for sure! That was one of the reasons I sold it actually, it wasn't just fast, it was stupid fast and the car was more than happy to play along. I wasn't just going to lose my licence, I was going to go to jail!!

Couldn't trust myself with it so sold the car and bought a bicycle (really), then a few months later a Civic.

Did just over 170 at Bruntingthorpe, I think. I only glaced down a few times to check the oil pressure and water temp.

Drove at 170 plus over the course of the last few days on German autobahns. Can only say car did have some left but drivers door kept opening onto its first latch point and wipers creeping up the screen which was rather offputting to say the least. Before last week only ever done this kind of speed on a bike but just as exciting in the cerb. Only had her for just over 3 months but I think this love affair is going to last.

165 a couple of years ago in the Cerb up a certain 4 laned A road on the way to the M11, Cerb was still pulling heartily, but I bottled it for fear of making front page headlines as it was only a week after that biker had a queens holiday after doing a miserly 145 up the same stretch of road

175 at Elvington in the Cerb and the then wife in the passenger seat. Fantastic sensation until the bonnet nearly ripped off, the wipers twisted and the side indicators popped out .

The thrilling bit was trying to stop, I must say the breaks on the Cerb are fantastic nearly pulled my spleen out at the end of the runway

I can only dream of those sorts of speeds, mine is rev limited to 160. I've been on tracks where I routinely carry 150+ into the braking zones, nothing particularly outstanding about these speeds. I've also travelled some distance on public roads at speeds up to 160, in circumstances which I felt were safe for this speed. I found the concentration levels required to drive that far ahead were very tiring, but the car itself felt rock solid.

Most definitely, the autobahns are very popular in the TVR world.

But I hear the german police can still pull you over if you're going 'toooo fast'....

There arent many places in the UK to legally try out top-speeds - well, including slowing down space that is.

is it just my cerb that becomes rather light at the front at these speeds? my s4 feels much happier at 150 than the tvr. im sure a front spoiler/spliter would help but. (a) spoilt looks? (b) 150+ how often?
