Hi,

I found some similar posts but nothing with this exact issue. Unfortunatley someone smashed my wing mirror, glass is intact and it still operates, it just doesnt stop in the right place when folding in, it goes until it rests against the window. I have taped it up and its pretty secure in general, the indicator also works just its pretty smashed up.

Would this be able to make it through an MOT? It needs to go through soon and its going to take a while to source all the parts for a proper replacement job.

Thanks!

Unfortunately that won't pass in that position. You could locate the fuse for the mirror adjustment ( providing that fuse doesn't serve other electrics ) and remove the fuse when in approx position. Or remove the switch and disconnect it.

I’m guessing it still goes out as normal whilst driving ?

As long as there are no sharp edges-use more duct tape if there are, you have a functioning interior mirror and the drivers view to the side is not obscured, I would pass that.

If you can position the mirror correctly and get even some light from it, it will pass. I've failed on a wing mirror indicator before, completely forgot to check it before hand. £200 for a whole new assembly as couldn't get just the light part!

Thanks all, The mirror can indeed open into the normal position, so sounds like it will be OK.
