Did anyone else (try and) watch this last night? I'm not sure what it is that I (we) are not getting, but it was dull beyond all possible comprehension. There was nothing to lift it at all. Truly painful. Can't understand why those big name actors signed up for it either? I'm afraid I gave up after 25 mins, I had some carrier bags which needed sorting out and putting away and that was a far more interesting prospect!

Yes and it’s on again now. It’s terrible. I was told we should give it another go tonight. She’s fallen asleep

I'm the same, I'm really thinking I'm missing something. These are two good actors but what were they thinking. Also, I know I'm getting on a bit and my hearing is not what it once was but the sound was terrible, mumbled dialogue, ridiculously loud background noise and blaring theme tune. Seriously thinking of cancelling the license fee if this is the best they can do.

You can tell it's by the same people who did "Him & Her" and "Mum" but sadly nowhere near as good.

I'm quite enjoying it... don't ask me why, as I don't know why! smile

I'm watching and quite enjoying it too, though it must be the shortest ever written script for 4 hours of drama... biggrin

Can someone tell me what's going on?

Other than him not getting a baked spud I'm at a loss.

Duller than dull but I've invested 2 hours now.....

Just watched tonight’s episode. Didn’t realise it was episode two until I read this thread.

My main question really is why are all the characters so fking weird.

I think that’s the point. It’s more about the actual silences, the little nuances, the awkwardness and oddities of the main characters and the way the actors are left alone to….well act.

We are so used to being fed entertainment with pacy multi layered scripts nowadays that for the vast majority this will miss the mark.

Shame as I’m enjoying it too.

Just when you thought a scene was going to reveal something interesting, it just ended and cut to another and another, many with barely a word spoken. After 2 hours I am completely bored senseless. I think we are meant to believe we are watching cutting edge drama, but I am beginning to think it’s all emperors new clothes. The silly background singing, “to the left, to the right ….. just meaningless. I have given up and it’s a shame, because the two main actors have done some terrific dramas, but this isn’t one of them.

Never watch British TV because I find it all very depressing.

Sound awful, music awful and joyless. Jamie acting like a David Brent-Alan Partridge love child

If it wasn't for Nicola and Sean I'd have given up. Worth enduring 1-3 because ep 4 is really rather good.

I know you give things a chance to develop but after 5 mins it was just unbearable.

Set it up on series link as it was well trailed as the one to watch , critics gave it the thumbs up , so we watched the first episode last night , an hour of our lives which we will never recover. Series link cancelled
It was painfully dull, boring, incoherent , disjointed.
Even at the outset a couple f ing across the aisle of an aircraft would have got them removed .How arguing about chips or jacket potato can be seen as entertaining is beyond us .
Out of 10 , -10

It had lots of trailers. Each and every one showed nothing but the dull monotonous drearyness of marriage. How the hell some of you thought it would be worth watching escapes me!!

I'm blaming the wife, she said it was supposed to be excellent. She'll insist on watching now though and saying it was amazing just to save face.

The theme music/noise has me mashing the mute button on the remote, it's like noise torture!

Mrs BC and I sat through about half an hour of the first episode. That was enough.

Done the 1st episode but struggling with the pace - and that cluttered house and the theme tune (WTF?!).

It's a shame because I think Nicola Walker is a fantastic actress - especially with awkward characters (which this kind of proves).
