996 Turbo prices

Thats a very early one with probably a few miles on it (I would guess) but yes Turbo prices have been in free fall for the last 12 months.
They appear to be leveling out now, I mean they can't drop like this forever.
£50k seems to be about right for an earlier car with average mileage on it from a good specialist, some do dip under this.
If you wanna see even worse depreciation then look at the GT2's, every day I ma tempted to swap my TT for one.

New 997 out, petrol prices continuing to go through the roof, falling house prices (where people have used equity in their houses to buy cars) people not spending in the high street - all will add to the woes of these types of cars, hence their prices will continue to fall to level people are willing to buy at.
That is the problem with Porsche ownership......I keep kidding myself that an extra 10+K will get me so much further up the ladder.......before you know it you have gone from considering a 35K car to a 55K car....

That is so true. I was looking at cars a couple of years ago with a 50k ceiling in mind. A couple of beers and flicking through Top Marques and I'd progressively worked my way up to £73k before I slapped myself in the face!

Yep, me too. When I saw that early 996TTs could be had for low 50s, I decided to start looking. Ended up paying £66.5k. Still don't really know how it happened !!!!
well I am looking now so set out my requirements beforehand and will stick to them:
black or grey
black interior
facelfit 52 or later
20k miles max
PCM2
ali bits - dials, packs, levers
also would love a 450
looking at £63-67k realistically
the battle is to stay patient until that right one comes along and not go for a "nearly but not quite perfect" car

What are the GT2's going for, incidentally the Turbo that I saw had done about 58K miles.
That Bu***er Simonharrod911 has wound me right up now (as was his SOLE intention)
He's even got be breaking a golden-rule and using my work time to post on here !!
33k for a 996 turbo indeed !! (more likely a 54 plate 997s)
For the record, in my (not so) humble opinion you won't find a 996tt worth having anywhere (including on my drive) for less than £50k.
And mine is £52k, (£53 to you) not £32k if you want it mate, and you know you do.... 'cos she SCARES YOU !!!

So £40k trade, would retail for around £46,995 at a guess, and thats an early car, in a non-metallic with twice the mileage it should really have achieving close to £50k.
That would have been an £85k car new, so its lost roughly £45k in 5 years = £9k a year which actually isn't bad at all for a supercar.
So I dont think its al doom & gloom just yet and like I said I believe prices are levelling out now after taking a tumble in the last 12 months.
What will be critical is to have the right car (ie spec, mileage etc) when you come to sell as there are a fair few around & if yours has over average mileage or below average spec then it will be a bugger to shift as there will be loads of others with better spec / right mileage to choose from for a buyer.

I've just sold my 03/03 with 13.5k but no nav for £58000, and the OPC who brought it have it up for £69995. I advertised for sometime but couldn't find a buyer, selling private at this level ain't easy. Having gone into a turbo cab from the same OPC I know that I will again take a kicking when it's time to sell.
Simon - as you know (and are bound to agree) any car which has been owned/driven by me (or for that matter any truly exceptional driver) obviously has increased value due its pedigree -

Under any circumstances though, a good "straight" 996tt is no less than £50k. As always there will be cheaper cars out there , but they will be pants...
