Tried everywhere online but can't find what I'm after.

Basically my pikey cleaners threw away my PSP box which had my driver disks in it. I've now bought a 1gb card so I can get the SNES/Megadrive emulator working and play films but my PC needs the driver (I think) as windows wont recognise it.

Could anybody copy their driver disks (Japanese version) for me? I'll obviously pay the costs etc.

Cheers Max

Max,
not sure what this is. I have a Japanese PSP, but did not have a driver disk with it.

Would be interested to know what is on it.

There might not be any! Basically I opened up my PSP, charged it and put the box under my desk - in the morning the cleaners had removed it. As its not working on my XP home PC (wont detect it) I assumed I am missing the drivers, but it seems I'm not!

Doesnt it just recognise it as a removable hardware device in My Computer? Mine just flags up as Drive G when I attach it.

Try plugging it in via a USB cable, if it doesn't pick it up, go to control panel and try the add/remove hardware application.

I'll try that tonight Steve

At the moment it recognises it but says there is a problem and calls it 'unknown device'. I'm buying a card reader (need one anyway) - which should sort it out.

Tried it again last night - still no joy.

It recognises the PSP as an 'unknown device' and says it needs a driver installing! My card reader arrived this morning, so hopefully that will take the hassle away (unless my PSP is knackered )

I'm starting to regret buying a Japanese one instead of waiting for the UK one on 1st Sept. I recently upgraded to Firmware 2.0 which installed fine, but I now cannot play any video's on it from the memory stick.

I've tried reformatting the memory stick, rebooting the PSP to initial settings and even re-installing 2.0 - nothing seems to work and because its a Japanese one I have no-one official to go to for help or advice!

Don't suppose anyone else has had this problem?

It's unlikely it's knackered mate, just that your PC won't recognise it, have you got Service pack 2 for XP? something like that might help.

Just wait for the UK one to come out, buy one from Argos. Take it back using their 16-day money back thing, but swap the UK one for your Japanese one! /pikey mode

Yes - but you can buy them the day before from Argos' finest Elizabeth Duke range and then take them back after the pikey task is complete! Jobs a carrot!

I have a jap spec PSP and I don't need drivers!

Now this may seem like a silly question, but you have selected "USB Mode" in the PSP, right?!

Oh, and dont upgrade to version 2.0!

The biggest issue with version 2 is that it stops the emulators working (I think - never used them).

The directory structure's still in tact on the memory stick for the movies I take it?

I've just checked my (Japanese version, firmware 2.0). Movies, photos, MP3s, the web browser, games etc all work fine.

As for it not connecting, have you formatted the memory stick? Have you tried selecting "USB Connection" on the PSP? And are you connecting it to a USB2 port on your computer (PSP is only 1.1 I think, and some ports may not work, though it's unlikely)?

there is no driver disk, you "might" have to format the card so the PSP see's it?

try a different USB cable, or the original card that came with it to make sure the reader inside the PSP aint a duffer.
