Thoughts On The 2011/12 Virage

As the title, what experience is there on this forum of Virage ownership or what are the collective thoughts on that car?

Personally, I prefer the looks of this car over the DB9/DBS and may well be interested in the near future.

From what I can glean, only the roof and windscreen are shared with the DB9, all other panels are unique to the Virage. Does it share the same platform, rear subframe etc. with DB9/DBS?

Hi,

It’s all in Grant’s book. From what I recall whilst it’s rare DB9.2 has all the upgrades the Virage has and newer for similar price.

I’m sure there will be a more comprehensive response by someone shortly.

I do think the Virage is a good choice

‘The thinking man’s DBS.’

Pretty much a DBS with the carbon ceramic brakes & almost identical interior but a bit more discrete and rarer too. 490 vs 510 bhp which is negligible in the real world & I seem to recall it was only half a second slower than a DBS round the Top Gear track.

Im a big fan of the Virage, just that little bit more individual than the rest. Good choice.

They are fricking gorgeous. Saw a couple at AMHT event at brooklands last weekend…. I’m a small 2 seater (ie Vantage) man but if it had to be a larger GT car I’d love one. Did they make any manuals?

As above, very much the thinking man’s DBS which I don’t think has aged that well actually. The Virage is still stunningly beautiful.

I am pretty happy with mine and, although I have got used to it now, the ride around town was stiffer than I was expecting.

Once on the open road that is all forgiven as it stays very flat through the windy bits.

I started the above thread.

7 months into ownership and no regrets. I love the car. Does everything a GT should. Obviously not as quick as my McLaren was but plenty fast enough for road use. The brakes are phenomenal. Handles well. Feels much better put together than the McLaren.

I did the Bamford Rose exhaust mods and remap and also installed the Aston Installations CarPlay and reversing camera. Recommend both. Exhaust/remap improves sound quite a bit and gives at least 40 bhp more (and avoids cat ingest). The Aston Installations mods bring interior tech up to date.

It's a keeper.

I have had mine for 6 months now and completely in love!.

I wasn't particularly looking for a Virage but when this one popped up in my search, I knew that this was the car for me at first sight!. Particularly drawn to the light coloured interior on black.

I have owned 2 Vantages previously. The Virage has all of the familiar Aston DNA and sense of occasion but it feels like a far more expensive car in terms of fit and finish. It really is a special place to be. The ZF 6 speed auto is miles better than the sport shift I had in my Vantage Roadster. CCM brakes are ridiculously good if not a little wasted on my fairly tame driving!

The only tiny negatives being:

I would like it to be a little bit more vocal. Easily attended to from what I have read.
You can tell its carrying a bit more weight than the vantage and it feels like a much bigger car on he road. Still handles extremely well and it feels very quick.

Not so easy to find a good one as the numbers are fairly low but if you do, I would 100% recommend you take a closer look

Thanks for your post Matt. Like you I much prefer none black interiors but as you know they are not common place and on a low numbers car like the Virage, even harder to find. My Vantage has Kestrel tan interior and I love it so would ideally like to find something of the same. It's not a deal breaker though. The Virage is such a great looking car.
