Hunt For Red October remake
Discussion
Yep, it's happening. Possibly.
Possibly the same story, possibly an updated version with a fresh spin on things.
Some say this is a good thing, some say this is the worst idea ever.

This may be a realization for me...
I find a lot of classic cinema, that is to say stuff thats a bit older than I am (late 70's) just a bit unrelatable, so the indignation that typically accompanies "remakes" washes over me a bit as you could call it something freshened up for a modern audience..
.. but Red October is a movie that is superb and very much of my time and the idea that todays Hollywood even has the wherewithal do anything to hold a candle to it seems unlikely

Why?! Nothing wrong with the old one and I can't see a market begging for a remake.
Anyway there's plenty of other Tom Clancy still on the shelf if they want something to make. Some of it even has submarines in it.
Though given some of the utterly pointless (and point missing) remakes there's been over the years I can seen this definitely happening and being a shiny soulless thing.

I can't imagine this being any good. Off the top of my head I can't think of any remakes that were better than the originals.
Casino Royale.I expect there will be more of these now the Russians can be bad guys in everything again. It’s a good story.

I don't know. The original was great from a story point of view but it looks quite dated. Younger generations often don't like older films because they look a bit cheap / dated.
That's because young people now have the attention span of a goldfish and are almost entirely superficial. Fast cut, cgi, actionfest with the final battle of any film being about half the running time. Even the old "90 minutes and and exploding helicopter" doesn't cut it for them today.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
