Audi Q7 vs. GLS vs. RR Sport vs. Land Cruiser 200

Looking to replace the old bus (MB Viano) as we no longer use it as initially intended.
We have gotten spoiled with the roominess of it, so much so that even the largest estates seem way too cramped. We also occasionally need 7 seats when grandma or other friends stop by. I no longer want to put up with the commercial vehicle underpinnings of most vans so a SUV it will be. Comfort is top priority, and it would be nice if it was not a total barge in how it handles or sips fuel.
GLS (X 166), like the look of these although they seem a bit ostentacious sometimes. Its an older platform and I worry a bit about the US build quality. A bit of off road capability may be nice.
RR Sport, great product, potential reliability issues are off putting.
Q7, seems like a very refined product, ticks most boxes ( exept off road ability), looks understated and purposeful in the right color ( I appreciate the overgrown wagon look, it disguises its size well).
Land Cruiser 200, not much to complain about just unsure about comfort and handling.

Volvo XC90??
Q7 - have had a SQ7 loved it would of had another one if I could actually have gotten one but thats another story. Great to drive but more jacked up estate that proper 4x4.
RR Sport - I am now on my 5th although never had a 7 seater, I think I've had almost all the engines apart from hybrid never had a big bill at all.

As above, an XC90 with a light interior feels practically cavernous inside and everything just feels like quality. Personally I can't stand Volvo's current infotainment system and it's enough to prevent me from buying any of their current offerings but I think it must be absolutely fine for the vast majority of people as you see so many on the road.
If you're considering the GLS then I'd probably also take a look at the BMW X7,the looks are very hit and miss but I have a huge soft spot for these. Whilst there's no denying these are a big vehicle, I do think they handle well for what they are and the interior leaves very little to be desired in regards to comfort.

to the OP, a 200 series is much 'cooler' than the others, will cost less to run, will sit under a 10 year warranty. it'll also retain its value massively compared to the others.
The XC90 is certainly a good looking vehicle, inside and out, but the lack of any engine with more than 4 cylinders is almost a K.O. criteria for me. I have not driven one, but cannot imagine it having the refinement of the larger engined competitors.

I could not gel with an XC90 I rented for a weekend, but all owners seem to love them. I found the seats and ride good though. Just didn't seem like particularly good value.
The x166 gen of GLS feels like the old architecture it is - particularly from the inside. Have you considered Disco 5?
You haven't mentioned budget, but I assume X7 is out - which is a shame as it is excellent.

Was not aware that the X5 was available with 7 seats.
The Disco 5 looks hooribly disproportioned, the Disco4 is more attractive to my eyes.
X7 also looks a bit ungainly and is currently over what I am willing to spend.

For some people the priority is reliability and off-road capability.we went for the Q7 with the larger engine option about 5 yrs ago from new. 7 seats, responsive, very comfy. 0 problems. 50k miles now. We also tow a caravan from time to time. Its the wifes car. Loads of room inside and all seats are moveable forward back/independent ( except the boot rear 2.) to give lots of leg room if needed.

Hence we went for the Q7 and I would say has been one of the best all round cars ever owned. It also can with all weather scorpion tyres that were also standard fit to our previous Landrover Disco 3 - it thus also coped well when we have our bit of snow from time to time/wet field.
