V8V Jacking - one corner only?
Discussion
I'm sure there was a thread on this recently but I can't find it sadly...
Can you jack these (06 V8V) one corner at a time? I'd like to take each wheel off separately for a proper clean of each, and a good scrub in the wheel well too, this weekend. I have a low profile jack.
No need to get it up on axle stands etc but i'm a bit confused about the "sheer panel" issue?
So am I OK to lift a single wheel off at the correct jacking point, and work my way around the car?
Cheers

You are fine to do a corner at a time. https://www.redpants.lol/diy-jack-stands Step 3 in that guide has photos of the rear and front jack points.
Do you know about the jacking pads, which are a convenient way of using a jack in exactly the correct position ?
There is a topic somewhere.
Also handy to carry in the car, in case a breakdown service is ever needed.
When removing a wheel and tyre, they are quite heavy, so I put a support under the tyre.

I recall from a thread a while back that AM jacking pads were about £200 + - ???? a set of 4
but you can use ice hockey pucks from fleabay at about £1.50p each, use them on my cars

Yes pricey, but don't recall them being that much. Hand made in small batches, rather like the pricey cars.
The main advantage over ice hockey pucks, is if someone unfamiliar with AM jacking should ever become involved.
The precise jacking locations are then clear to them.
The rubber inserts are often damaged by dealer jacking, but can be replaced for pennies (cents), although perhaps not if buying from AML.

Nigel - i think it was your thread recently on this!
So a plank for wood along the circled areas, half on the plastic half on the chassis, jack in the center?

Don’t put any of it on the ‘plastic’! The wood beam should only be on metal inboard of the bodywork, if you go that route. Frankly, one corner at a time is not much slower than one side, and it is probably easier to manage without assistance. Nigel - i think it was your thread recently on this!

Yes, I used a plank of engineered laminate flooring between the jack and the sill - jacked the car on one side, then used two axle stands on jacking pads (which I got for £59 from https://www.astonmartinjackpads.co.uk/products)Nigel - i think it was your thread recently on this!

I was actually jacking all four wheels off the ground ready for detailing and a wheel refurb, but the process is the same for each side
You are wise to be cautious, however (read the whole thread, if you haven't seen it): https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/aston-martin/3...
