Online pet medication

My cat needs thryonorm for hyperthyroidism. After four months it's going well and the dose is fine-tuned.

For a 100ml bottle my vet charges £103. www.petdrugsonline.co.uk can supply it for £51 inc postage. However they want to see a prescription before they'll send it, and my vet wants £25 to supply one. I sent them a scan of the label on the current pack, which has all the details they require, but they are insisting on a prescription.

Am I over a barrel, losing half the saving, or can anyone recommend a supplier that would be able to supply on sight of the current label?

We didn't find an alternative. We use them for food supplelemnts for our dog's chronic pancreatitis, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to get prescription drugs from them, and couldn't find anyone else, so we still get them from the vet.

Some meds are prescription only.

When one of our dogs was on long term meds our vet used to give us a multiuse prescription for a single fee (so you could use it three times for the same meds), maybe that is something your vet could offer?

Our dog is on Loxicom, which is prescription only. The prescription last for three orders to the supplier

I have this with my dog. It's annoying because yes, the vet basically has you over a barrel, but ask them for a repeat prescription, which can then be used multiple times online.

I can understand that, but you can get medication for humans online without a prescription. Aren't human lives worth more?

That's a great idea, and would help spread the extra. Thanks!

ETA - it has just arrived by e-mail. Can't fault the service - but it's only single use, which is hard to understand as the cat will need that medication continually.
