Thought I’d stick a topic up about the incredibly sad and untimely death of Rab Wardell who died the other day at 37. Notably he had just won the Scottish MTB XC champs at the weekend and then cycled 100+ km home after. Was interviewed on BBC Scotland then died in his sleep that night. Just horrible.

For those who don’t know, he was a recently turned pro cyclist and has the FKT on the west highland way. He was well known in the Scottish cycling scene and a successful coach etc.

Link to the FKT video, really inspiring and worth a watch:

Only heard of Rab today after seeing some tributes on Instagram and then reading up on him.

Very tragic, very fit young man too.

Very sad, especially so being in his prime. Also, a horrifying experience for his partner i.e. Katie Archibald.

Haven't heard of the guy but very sad to hear of his passing at such a young age.

Sadly premature death does appear to be a risk for high level athletes

Very sad indeed knew of him through the Ali Clarkson vlogs and seemed a very genuine guy.
