Hot start getting tiresome
Discussion
Hi all, my chim isn’t used much but the hot start problem is getting on my nerves. It starts on the button when cold or stop for petrol, but leave it for more than ten minutes & it’s a cranking over for 6/7 seconds then catch on a couple of cylinders again for 6/7 seconds before it runs on all 8. Has a hot start kit fitted but makes no difference.
Changed the coil, Bosch.
New rota arm
New ignition amp
No improvement at all.
Any advice would be more than welcome!

May be bleeding/leaking fuel inj's not only flooding the cyl's on hot shut down but also causes fuel pressure to drop rapidly in fuel rail creating fuel vapour locks in rail adding to the problem further , I may be surmising however not being present when it happens of course, worth investigating how quick fuel rail pressure exists post hot shut down

The relay hot start mod is for “no crank” . Changed the coil, Bosch.

I had this problem 3-4 years ago and fiddled with a couple of things and there hasn’t been an issue since.
For me it was definitely linked to the fuel side rather than the ignition and was more on hotter days above 25 degrees after parking and turning off the engine for more than a couple of minutes.
I removed and cleaned the MAF sensor wire with a spray cleaner and around the same time had my 14CUX ECU chip upgraded to Landrovers last firmware update for the 14CUX (Operation Pride)which apparently helps with startup and cold warmup.

Mark Adams will have his own box of tricks and has quite possibly upgraded the firmware to the later R3652 version as part of his mapping program. 🤞
