Hi all,

Would be interested to hear what other owners of X5 45E get in terms of range from the battery alone. I've had mine since March this year, a new X-Line with 20" wheel option.

Regardless of weather - and the extremes of temperature we've had this year - and driving like a saint, I can't break 30 miles. I live in Bristol which has mostly 20MPH limits around town. Charging overnight never results in a predicted range of more than 34-36 miles against either

Yes, checked tyre pressures, use loads of lift and coast etc . . ,

Others experiences would be helpful.

Thanks,

MC

In my 530e stated 30 mile on full electric, could never better 19/20 ever.

11 month old X5 45e. Winter time we get it to charge to about 44 miles, and thats what we generally get out of it, summer time, we have had a full charge of 55 miles, and e actually got 54 miles, so pretty pleased with it

Harry's done a couple of videos on his. I can't remember what he said he got on pure battery, but I'm sure he mentions it in here:

Worth a look at this thread, in particular the guy chinnyman's post on the 18th/20th April.

Thanks for the response.

Blimey, I'm way off that. Can I ask what sort of a mix of road use gives that range?, my results are based almost entirely on driving in Bristol. 20-30mph limits. Unplug the charger in the morning, switch on, see an EV range of usually 34-36 miles, then drive too and from work for a few days using EV only. Battery gets to zero after 27-29 miles, and that's only be treating the accelerator pedal as if it's made of egg shell.

Do your results of 44-54 EV miles comprise running without any petrol engine time at all?, by that I mean you'd drive for 44 or 54 miles on EV without any additional charge being provided by say, the petrol engine on a motorway etc?

Cheers

Mike

Interesting, although not something that's cropped up on mine. I've raised the EV range with them with no response.

The dealer has been less than fabulous. amongst other things, charged me for most premium tracker, didn't fit it, then realised that as a Hybrid they could only fit a mid spec version - no idea why - but have yet to refund me the difference. . . .

I’d expect stop / start city driving to yield lower range than open road driving

That would definitely be the case for petrol or diesel cars, but does it also apply to electric driving?

Interesting point on city range, some EV's claim greater distance in urban driving, perhaps someone with better than O-Level physics can explain why that be . .

Make sure you have the pre conditioning turned off
As having that switched on seems to reduce from 50 to about 43
I turned it off last week and on the next charge mine went straight to the 50 miles showing

Full electric car driver here but the observation I would make is that acceleration uses more power than maintaining a steady speed so I can’t see how you would get more mileage in city driving than outside.

For context, doing a commute, I see 3.2 miles per kW/h vs 2.7 in city driving.
