Just had a weekend away and on the way back just thought I'd just pootle along (m-way/DC most of the way). Had a/c on most of the way and the cooled seats just to be extra comfortable...

As a side note (not that this didn't impress me enough) a US gallon is smaller than a proper gallon - converted to imperial it's nudging 50 yikes

Not having an encyclopaedic knowledge of car speedos it could be anything between fiat 500 or Dodge Challenger hellcat, I take it 50 is good?

Impressed but not surprised.

Smoothness of the engine in my E90 325. Makes for a lovely motorway cruiser. smile

I'm surprised how well my new to me MX5 NC rides on the cr*p roads around here.

Having stopped for lunch an hour away from the Champagne region, I was impressed by the car telling me when pulling out of the car park that it had adjusted the headlights for driving on the right. Nice touch!

That was my previous car, not sure the Allroad would do the same, it's two years older.

How easily and often my TVR can leave me waiting for the AA… again today.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

I've never been let down by any TVR I've owned.

My GT4 handles like it's on rails, even better than I expected, it goes through bends flat like it's on a circuit. And absolutely zero rattles /bumps or squeaks. Quite a feat on a road car.

I love my wife's MX5 NC, it's like a mini Chimaera.

How much engine braking a large displacement naturally aspirated petrol V8 produces (with a manual gearbox). Easy to forget if you haven't driven one in a while or have only driven small displacement 4 pots.

How slow 385bhp can be made to feel by virtue of double-glazing, steer-by-wire, regular profile tyres on 19s and a 2-tonne kerb weight...

2007 Lexus LS460.

The funny thing is, it is actually about as fast as ~200bhp/tonne should be, it's just that you are so isolated from the road that you don't get a sensation of speed.

Glad you added "with a manual gearbox"... Pair the same engine with an auto and you may as well have none unless you want to piss about with manual modes. The joys of having so much torque that you are basically idling everywhere!

Only without the soundtrack, drama and pulse racing excitement.... biggrin

(not knocking the NC, big MX-5 fan, but a completely different animal IMO)

Steering and brakes, feedback in both are fantastic.

Not done many miles this year, but they are the things that impress every time.

The amount of people who come over and give positive comments in relation to my new-shape Aston Vantage, which is somewhat at odds with what one would expect, given the opinion of the Pistonheads Massiv.

The chassis on my W204 C63. I thought it was going to be a normal Class with a big V8 but it actually drives brilliantly with good turn in and feels like a performance car.

Sure it’s no M3 but it was far better than I expected.

Speedo only goes to 160 so more likely the 500 end of motoring!
