Vantage Roadster 2008 V8 roof problem

Hi. Hope this post is ok. I have a 2008 Vantage Roadster, the roof won’t shut completely and warning lights are on. I’ve tried all cabin and boot fuses, have also now managed to close it as much as possible using the Allen key method behind the rear view mirror. It’s practically closed but the two warning lights still come on. Any suggestions ? Have tried a couple of specialists and they’re booked until end Sep, am in Canary Wharf. Many thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum. I am sure I’ve seen this question recently either here or maybe on Facebook? You could try disconnecting the battery, although that may create more problems. I’m fairly sure that I’ve read about these sorts of problems before and the culprit can be the CRM, Convertible Roof Module? I think it’s located inside one of the rear wheel arches, but it’s tricky to get to and replace. Tbh you may be better off asking the question on one of the AM DIY Facebook groups. There is one called Aston Martin DIY (All Models) which is full of people who thinker with their cars themselves. As this is a fairly common issue you may get some helpful suggestions.

It sometimes depends when and how the hood went into fault, was it because the opening or closing was interrupted for some reason if it was this should reset.
In the past l have found that the manual locking down of hood must be fully engaged or this will be recognised as a fault, also l seem to remember that direction of hood travel affect the fault if fault occurs when opening you need to manually fully lock then unlock then lock again so that hood thinks it has gone through full motion.

I have a similar problem on a 2015 Vanquish. Tried all the usual things like, disconnecting the battery (right pain to reset the seats) also adjusted the sensor at the top of screen, all to no avail. Eventually took it to Trinity Engineering. They diagnosed a broken microswitch in one of the tonneau latches. Now going in to be fitted on Monday. - I initially suspected the roof control module, but the diagnostic software said not.

A roof only specialist in the southeast wanted about £168 to diagnose the problem and I would have waited 6 weeks to book it. Trinity did the diagnosis for free. So I suggest you find your nearest AM dealer or Indi specialist with the software and let them have a look.
