M2 Comp S55 - which exhaust Remus / Akro / Kline?
Discussion
Soon to take delivery of a near new 3000km Comp.
Will run it for awhile first as is but then exhaust would be one of my first mods.
Anyone have real world experience of the best sounding System for this and bang for buck, back section only, or full.
Advice appreciated.
Car already has been lowered on Eibach springs and 12mm spacers so sits very nice.
Excited…..

I have Remus race with res delete on my Comp which adds volume and the over run burble the OG has, doesn’t sound too bad imo but doesn’t sound as good as my OG M2 with full Remus!
Secondhand £1500 is about the going rate which is what I paid for mine, new with tips £2200 to £2600 (from memory).

I was trying to decide between N55 which I like the sound of but went for newer feel and extra power options of the S55.
I hope I made the right choice.
I’m in Australia these days and so far have been quoted as follows.
Remus exhaust diff back stainless system with carbon tips $6734 incl . 4 to 6 weeks lead time
Remus exhaust diff back stainless system with black chrome tips $5638 incl . 4 to 6 weeks
Akrapovic exhaust diff back titanium system with Carbon tips $8835 incl . in stk in Sydney ( we have done one of these they sound good )
Carbon shark fin cover $200 incl fitted .
Thanks for your feedback.👍

I have a m2c and the standard noise really really got to me, it was so muted and quiet it really actually got the point of me not wanting to drive it and ruined the experience.
Alas, after many many hours of research I opted for an Active Autowerk non resonated midpipe, it absolutely transformed the car, it now sounds incredible and the equal length genuinely does remove the nasty raspiness from the S55 and gives it a much better 6 cylinder sound.. Admittedly it needed the OPF sensors coding out but the car now sounds almost GT3/GTR esque and I couldnt be happier!
It is also to me the cheapest for noise exhaust you can do, well I say cheap , I dont consider £1400 for any midpipe cheap but compared to costs for other systems and setups its cheap. I wouldnt want it any louder also, its a huge increase in noise on full chat.
Couple of the best sounding examples I can find showing the sound with an AA equal length midpipe

The first is with a downpipe (and a non res AA EL midpipe)Second is just a non res midpipe, thats it, everything else stock
The midpipe replaces both OPFs and the silencer, it really does make a huge difference changing the midpipe alone and the sound dramatically increases, your m2 comp would sound exactly the same as the second video if you changed the midpipe and nothing else.

And what would be the MOT situation in the real world? Presumably the cats being retained would see to emissions adequately, but a fail could result for want of the GPF/OPF cans if the tester spotted their omission? How likely is that really (does a prompt to inspect come up on the VOSA screen during test)?Second is just a non res midpipe, thats it, everything else stock

Worst case scenario I still have the standard pipe to fit back for "visual" purposes anyway. The performance and sound improvement for me is worth it for a small yearly inconvenience.
For the record I know of 2 other people with OPF removals taken to non friendly MOT stations and they didnt even notice they were gone,

I wouldn’t want a ridiculous set up but something that sounds like a sporty car should.
My Old 996 Turbo S had a Tubi System on and more recently a Kline exhaust 200cell cat and that sounds great when the throttle is open..
If the M2 got anywhere near that sound I would be happy.

No need for the expense of a Remus / Akro unless chasing more power/torque?
In terms of sound and freeing up breathing somewhat, it does seem so. But, OPF cars will need recoding/mapping to avoid engine light and limp issues, and if you’re doing that it seems a no brainer to stage 1/stage 2 tune, which prudently necessitates crank hub upgrade. Is how I see it.
That’s not pocket money stuff and any warranty will be toast…
Still an attractive route for a keeper car ‘though

Crank Hub upgrades?
Was thinking of an Evolve Tune and leave her at that with the sound fixed .??
