Hi everyone,

Here is my 2007 SEAT Altea FR 2.0 TFSI with a manual gearbox. It's quite a rare and unique car, most of the ones on the road are pd170's but this is basically MK5 Golf GTi but in a Golf Plus body with SEAT's unusual styling.

I've had the car just over a year now and I've done a few bits to it but nothing too mad, I'm just trying to keep it looking OEM and highlight that it is the 'sportier' model.

When I bought the car the rear springs were broken so I fitted Eibach 30mm lowering springs front and rear which stiffened the car up a fair bit. I replaced the standard alloy wheels which were in major need of a refurb for some immaculate MK2 Audi TT wheels and added SEAT center caps. The original wheels were 17x7 et 54 and the TT wheels are 17x8 et 47, with the extra width and lower offset the new wheels poke out an extra 19mm. I also bought a badgeless honeycomb grill online and epoxy bonded on a SEAT badge from an Arosa boot lid, I'm really pleased with the result!

Some photos.....

Yeah I do agree, I only actually bought it for what it is underneath and because it was cheap but it's definitely grown on me.

No huge updates other than refurbishing the cloudy and deteriorated headlights. The NSF headlight has been bad since I bought the car so I've been meaning to do it for a while. Once I'd sorted the NSF it made the OSF look terrible so I ended up doing them both.

Then I gave the car a wash and I'm really pleased with the result!

That is a very rare car, still looks fresh too. I looked on Autotrader out of interest and found a possibly even rare variant, a 4WD 2.0 TFSI! I kind of want it.

Pretty quick these. I remember one overtaking me like I was stopped on a B road about 15 years ago in my 1.2 Clio!

Enjoy OP.

No huge updates on the Altea other than just routine maintenance - 4 wheel alignment, oil and filter change, new front drop links and a fresh MOT.

I recently replaced the high pressure fuel pump cam follower as I can’t find any record of it being done prior to me owning the car and it has now done 111k. At the cost of a £40 kit and 20 minutes work it’s well worth doing. The cam follower was worn a bit so the top coating had rubbed away but I don’t know whether this is the original one or if it had been changed before.

I also managed to win a full set of unused Apex RDX coilovers with top mounts on eBay for a bargain price as I’ve been thinking of turning the car into a Fast road/track car but still continue to use it as my daily with a spare set of wheels with stickier tyres to chuck on when and if I do a track day and I’ll probably remove the rear seats too as they weigh a tonne.

They look like a decent bit of kit and I’m looking forward to getting them fitted but I think I’ll hold off for a month or so until we get some better weather.

Nice thing that, I had 2006 Leon with that engine and box, although it was supposedly remapped to about 240hp and 260 lb/ft so it shifted very nicely. I enjoyed driving mine a lot, so imagine yours would be great with the added practicality.

I had the 4x4 Freetrack version and really regretted getting rid of it. Think I had pics up on here years ago too.

Probably one of the best all rounders I've owned!

There's one on Autotrader that's got a deposit on it.

That's quite cheap too! I wish it was my deposit.

Just seeing the pics brings back fond memories. The OP's car looks really clean, and I love rare and different everyday stuff smile

Thanks man, I have been tempted to get it remapped as I’ve heard it does transform this engine but I think I’m gonna focus on chassis mods first, then an induction kit and then probably a remap to follow.

Being classed as an MPV you’d expect more from it in terms of practicality but it’s actually the same length and width as the Leon but it’s 11cm taller so you gain some head room, it also has a sliding rear bench and a few extra little storage compartments but it’s definitely not a big car. It’s quite odd and I’m not really sure who the Altea and Golf plus were aimed at to be honest.

I love the Freetrack version and I imagine with a ko4 turbo and remap it would be an animal. Have you still got any photos of it?

How was the 4x4 for MPG as this is pretty thirsty annoyingly regardless of how you drive it!

Hi Lucas, the Altea is now up for sale if you would still be interested in it?

I’ve recently had an opportunity to buy a friends car which means this will now be up for sale.

The only recent updates have been fitting Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres which are a great all rounder for daily driving and country lanes.
