That's so sad. Whilst I'm no fan of what the BBC has become, Bill was one of those balanced level headed types and just came across as a really nice bloke.

Just saw this pop up, very sad to hear. He always came across very well on TV, got the impression he was genuinely warm and friendly.

Very sad news.

I knew he had been ill in recent years from various interviews where he had been raising awareness of prostate cancer. He was recently a contestant on House Of Games and I thought he looked remarkably healthy.

Even with the show's pub-quiz format, it was clear he was very switched-on. Great sense of humour and came across really well.
