Rear Hub Flange removal

Making progress on fixing my squeak but before I mess something up does anyone have a good technique to get the Hub Flange (the bit in the picture, this one is off, mine is still attached to the car) off the hub. I have undone the 41mm hub nut and I have hub pullers big enough for the job.

My thoughts are that I should put the hub nut back on loosely and then use a 3 leg hub puller on it but was just thinking it'd be good to get your thoughts, ideas and experience.

Easily removed with the above method or a slide hammer , a ghetto method is bolt an old steel wheel to the hub stub/flange and belt the wheel away from the hub carrier , chances are you can probably tap the hub flange out of the bearings with a copper mallet

Well that didn't gp to plan.

Despite putting immense pressure on the puller with a 1 metre bar the flange wouldn't budge.

Resorted to taking the whole hub assembly off and its now at local garage to press it out and fit new bearings at same time. Old bearings did have a rumble you could hear and feel, even though thete was no noise when on the car. Only symptom was the squeak and 1.5mm of run out at the wheel rim.

Thanks all just to conclude things.

Got the hub off the stub but couldn't get bearing and hub flange separated so took it to a local garage with a press.

They removed it and fitted new bearings.

All reassembled and torqued up and its quiet as a mouse.

Useful info...runout measured at the wheel rim with a dial gauge Before: 1.5mm Now: <0.1mm
