993 - Everyday day?
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying a 993 as the only car shared between me and the mrs. However, I don't know enough about them to say whether having one as the only car is sensible. It would be used daily for a 15 mile motorway commute and regularly for longer trips around the country.
Given that the budget of about £25k points to an approx. 80k miler C2 993 do you think this will work as an everyday car?
If the budget was to stretch would it be worth looking for a 996?
Thanks.

I would say a 993 would be fine. Once you are used to the pedals, they are easy to drive.
However they do feel old fashioned inside (I like this). If you are sharing it with the missus, could I respectfully suggest you try an early 996 or a Boxster S as well? Both good cars too.

Agree with johnny, go out and drive a 993, a 996, and a boxster (s?).
Have a chat with your missus and see which one you both like best.
The 993 is full of character, which means people tend to love it or hate it. The 996 and Boxster are much easier to like.
Any of these will be easy to live with as a daily though - i've had three 993's, each used as an 'only car'. Before that, i always had at least 2 vehicles at a time.
Oh, and if you see a 993 turbo on the M4 with bikes on the roof, or Ikea furniture, do wave won't you?

I use my 993 4S as often as practical for the 15 mile A and B-road journey to my office, even though I have a company car with cheap fuel and a car park season ticket (neither of which I can use on the 993). I have had no problems with the car related to its daily use. I certainly have that "feel good factor" when I get to work, due perhaps in no small part to the fact that I live in relatively traffic-free Mid-Wales!
I use mine daily for a similar journey. No real problems but you may wish to consider the fuel costs (22MPG on superunleaded for me) and the depreciation if you do pile the miles on (balanced against the enjoyment of course). As people say, best idea is to drive a few on the sorts of roads you normally drive. It may seem a bit archaic depending on what you are used to.
