The Volvo satnav - help required

How do I cancel a destination please?

I've read every page of the satnav section in the handbook and there's nothing about it...

Which generation of Volvo are you talking about?
On the current ones the easiest way is to open the quick menu on the right of the dash and on the navigation menu cancel navigation is near the top of list.
As i recall the previous generation had it near the bottom of the initial navigation menu.
Of course voice control may also provide options, but i try not to open that can of worms.

Sorry i didn't reaise this was in the aston area, not the Volvo area, I'll have to dredge my memory banks a bit deeper for that generation. This would be the system controled by the joystick on the back of the steering wheel. As i recall it was straight forward on one of the primary menus.

Thanks - it's a 2007 DB9, controlled by a joystick on the dashboard. I've looked in every menu and can't find it...

I've got the C30 manual somewhere. I should be able to find it when I'm trying to resuscitate a laptop tomorrow. My memory is clearing i think there was an additional manual for the nav, if you're open for PM I'll send a copy across.

I looked online and found that Volvo have their manuals available to download.

I tried the C30 model (didn't know that was the name), but for the year I selected, could not see a satnav.
Then tried C70, but still no luck.
It must be somewhere.

I rarely use the AM satnav, but would like to know more about it.

So, you have to get to the menu where you have four options at the bottom, the last one being "Clear Itinerary" and the others stuff like "Add to Itinerary", "Modify Itinerary"...

Now from memory, I am not super sure how you get there (I would be able to do it in the car). I suggest trying to push the joystick when you are on the map screen. Or also try the "Back" button. Or in the first menu (where you can select "Address", "Stored Locations" etc.) try to find an option like "Route", "Destination"... You should arrive to the menu with "Clear Itinerary" in it.

And that is just to deal with a place we don't want to go to.

In my post earlier on this page, I described trying to locate the Sat Nav instructions written by Volvo.
All their car handbooks/manuals are available on their website, but I could not find which of their models had the Sat Nav used by AML.

Does anyone have Volvo knowledge, to locate those instructions?
Just wondered whether the Volvo version of SatNav instructions, might be more helpful to us than AM's.

I have found something.

The screen print pictures look familiar, so it might be correct.
Appear to be far more comprehensive instructions, than those in our AM handbooks.

My ramblings above are as follows:

Press the car physical back button when on the map screen, select "Itinerary", press ENTER (or press right two times, I am not sure) and proceed to select & confirm "Clear Itinerary".

My 07 vantage sat has been updated to full post code and latest map updates, lt now makes it a quiet usable day nav but one of first things l had to get my brain was the itinerary. If you do not fully complete a journey that address will be put into the itinerary and used as a way point if not cleared before entering a new destination so very important to make sure itinerary is clear otherwise you go on very strange journeys as l have done in the past.

I had - in fact still have - a TomTom ONE. It's about the same era but works so well, has a touchscreen and is totally intuitive.

I'm now re-learning the art of navigation, which is no bad thing. I was a passenger in a car recently; the driver wanted the postcode of the destination for the satnav. I said 'That's OK, I've been there many times before, I'll direct you'. But he couldn't rest until he had the satnav going... All Putin has to do is jam the satnav and as a nation we'll be f*cked.

There might be a whole topic worth of stories, about the AM Sat Nav playing games with us.
A couple that I can remember;

When heading towards a friend's home, I seemed to be making good progress through the outskirts of Wokingham.
Suddenly I recognised that I was in a location I had been through 15 minutes earlier!
The navigation had directed me around the town in a complete circle.
Realising that it would probably repeat identical directions, I did not fall for that trick.
1 to the Sat Nav.

More recently I encountered a diversion on the Cirencester by pass. A419 closed yet again.
Signs stated follow the triangle, not the Sat Nav.
No problem because we could go through Malmsbury, but unexpectedly, there was a road closed, so we were then on a diversion of a diversion.
For a long time the Sat Nav repeatedly kept saying turn right (west, when we wanted to go east).
Eventually the voice seemed to give up, perhaps because we had ignored it so many times.
1 to me on that occasion.

Tend to use a phone now, but cannot play the AM Sat Nav game with that.
