I'm sure it's been done before, but despite following the instructions at https://aston1936.com/2016/02/21/recalibrating-the... it's not playing ball. Tried it several times; I can hear a quiet 'click' about 2 secs after each operation, I keep holding the switches for a good count to 5, but the window still isn't dropping when I open the door.

No idea why it's gone wrong as it hasn't lost power as far as I know. The passenger window is fine. Any ideas please?

Hmm, not ready to pull the battery out just yet on a whim and lose all the other settings, including the engine ones necessitating all that rundown malarkey...

Maybe try it with the engine running so the alternator adds a bit of extra oomph as the window motor is operating?

Nope.

The other window is fine, as are the seat memories. What could have gone wrong with just one window?

Any ideas other than changing the battery please?

Everything in the car works perfectly except for this single window which won't drop/rise the1/4" to clear the seal. Reset doesn't fix it. Motor works, switch works. A sensor maybe?

Not sure if this helps but I had a problem on my DB11 with the passenger side window dropping but never going back up ie if you opened the door 3 times it ended up with a half open window ! I could move it back up with the switch but it bounced off the top- didn’t seem to know when to stop. The dealer re flashed the door control module which they said fixed it but they decided to replace it anyway under warranty since they didn’t know why it failed in the first place. Anyway problem solved. Could be a similar module issue although I know the DB11 system is different from earlier cars.

Have you tried pulling the fuses for the window and putting them back in as it does a reset of the modules. It does the trick on mine if the battery has run down as you need to reset the windows.
They’re behind the panel under the carpet in the passenger footwell.

I've had one of mine "drop out" occasionally.

Routine for fixing I have found is:

Windows fully up
Disconnect battery for 1 min
Reconnect battery
Lock car
Wait 1 min for car to sleep
Unlock car
Ign on
Windows down and hold for 10 seconds
Windows up and hold for 10 seconds
Repeat x 2
Lock car
Wait 1 min for car to sleep

Unlock car and test

No joy, repeat....hehe

Is this on a DB9 as on my DBS which is basically the same car, after disconnecting the battery or it running flat neither the windows nor the central locking works without resetting?

Thanks. I saw this on YouTube - but in his case the window didn't work at all. Power is getting to mine as the glass goes up and down with the switch - so I don't think it can be a poor fuse connection. It's just the 'autodrop' function that's gone.

When you say 'drop out' do you mean the whole window failed, or just the autodrop?

The problem with disconnecting the battery is that the engine loses its settings and you have to do the five rundowns from 70 to 20 without touching the accelerator or brake, which is virtually impossible round here and also dangerous (I had to do it last year). Curiously this didn't make it to the brochure as a sales feature!

So far I've been trying to get the function going by doing down and up and holding for 5 secs each time. I'll try 10 (I hear a quiet click after about 2 secs (is that it setting itself?) and locking the car afterwards... then I'll look for some more straw to clutch lol!

Pulling the fuse is done instead of disconnecting the battery. Pull the fuse, wait 10 seconds and try the reprogram sequence again. Failing that you might need a window module flash or replacement.

That sounds less of a PITA, thanks. But the window goes fully up and fully down so logic tells me the fuse and/or its connections must be OK, no? Or is there something cleverer going on I don't know about?

It resets the settings in the door module. Effectively loses it memory. So you then reprogramme it by carrying out the window reset process

Brilliant, thank you.

Now I just have to get the car out onto the road and grovel around on cold tarmac with my head under the glovebox muttering things like 'Where's the bloody screw gone?' and 'What idiot designed it like this?' hehe

The Autodrop. I have the passenger side play up every once in a while.

tbh, fixing window drop, for me, is far more important than Coastdown Adaptives. Losing a window is costly and a pain. Coastdowns, although ultimately important, will occur with time and are less likely to affect driving pleasure versus not being able to open/close a door, or someone smashing a window when closing.

Depends on your priorities I guess.

I can now bring this thread to a successful conclusion. My priority was to get the window drop fixed without breaking or disabling anything else. I could have spent £150+ on a new battery, or I could have disconnected it and lost all the settings. Both these would have worked, but also caused 'collateral damage'.

So after reading all the options, and today having a good chance to park it the other way round and set about the passenger footwell, I found fuse 83, pulled it out, waited 30 secs and replaced it. To my delight the window drop is restored!

And so I'd like to send virtual beers to '4Q' and 'embdenb' for suggesting the fuse, and to 'Neil1330r' for explaining how it works beer

Remember folks, always try the easiest cheapest simplest thing first!

Can I just add my pennies worth to this chat.
When there’s a Full Moon, my wing mirrors have a tendency to throw a wobbler and fail to operate as they should. I’ve found out that the quickest way to reset them is to pull the fuses in the footwell. This however means a window reset too. I follow the instructions to the letter but this never works. BUT!! If I follow the sequence with the doors open, it resets them every time.
Just thought I’d add this to the quirks encountered with these beautiful cars.

As a TV producer you need to make a programme about it. I'll present it for you in my James May-style (which I didn't realise I had until I fixed a recalcitrant laptop. With an axe and a circular saw biggrin )
