Dog eating blackberries

..one of ours has become obsessed when we go for a walk, picking them off the hedgerows.

is this likely to cause any issues and are there any other strange eating habits of anyones pooches?

When I was a kid, we had a German Shepherd. We bought some small apple trees and couldn't understand where the fruit was disappearing to - until we caught the dog helping himself straight from the tree.

Our new pup is a st eater... His own. Can't stop the little bd.

He's on pills that are supposed to make his st taste worse than st... They don't work. It's a shame because he's a very affectionate lab... But no one wants to go near him in case he licks them.

Can't think of any issues with blackberries other than the prickles.

Our pooch's caviar of choice is Rabbit Poo. Not sure if that's unusual or not.

My friends dog was scared of tomatoes. He picked one up in his mouth to eat one time, dropped it immediately, and gave them a wide berth ever after.

If you do a popular web search it only mentions that unripe berries/the leaves/roots can be bad but only large quantities.

I only know this because a family dog is also keen on blackberries all of a sudden

Labs are terrible for it , ours loves horse poo he scarfs it down with delight , unfortunately we live in a very horsey area

Not a lot you can do apart from keep on top of it , pups are always hungry and they usually grow out of it

Our lab loves all fruit especially bananas

Our black lab did that. Fortunately the collie only eats rabbit st, sheep st, cat st, half-eaten mice, rats and rabbits. Oh and a crow. And bracken roots.

Our black lab did that. Fortunately the collie only eats rabbit st, sheep st, cat st, half-eaten mice, rats and rabbits. Oh and a crow. And bracken roots.

Speaking from experience, the only worse thing that them eating all this is when they throw it back up in another room so you don't realise for a couple of hours, in the middle of summer

As an evolutionary question dogs can be fairly smart so how can a creature evolve to be smart but still eat its own st when it's not exactly going to starve if it waits a while?

They are hungry and it smells good, since dogs aren't disgusted by faeces or rotting carcass like humans are, not sure they plan ahead

Our flat coat eats everything, when my wife worries that he might get ill, i point out that he eats cat turds direct from the cat tray so anything else is a drop in the ocean

This knobhead is a confirmed poo-eater. He goes months without showing any interest until we are lulled into a false sense of security, then whirls round in a flash after dumping and devours it.



He did scoop a piece of random poo off the pavement the other day, which some scummy person had failed to clean up after their dog.

Yup. Had two other labs before this one and never an issue.

Hopefully he grows out of it... He's only 16/17 weeks.

You'll be lucky if he's already started! My sister has one and he's like a walking black hole. Hasn't even grasped the concept of chewing.

Foxes eat blackberries and cherries when they're available. Doubt it does them any harm. Even my fish like blackberries.

Our puppy (11 weeks) has been munching sloe berries that had fallen off a neighbours tree. I was a bit concerned at first but there don't seem to have been any ill effects so far.
