991.1 Turbo S Rear Squeaking.
Discussion
Hi,
I picked up a 2015 Turbo S from Porsche Glasgow in May and have an almost constant squeaking coming from the rear of the car that occurs with suspension movement.
Sometimes I can get away with a mile or two at the start of a journey without any noise but when it starts it progressively worsens until every undulation creates noise, which is about every inch of road with the turbo s suspension. The noise then remains continuous for the remainder of the journey regardless if it's 10 or 100 miles.

Glasgow OPC collected the car in June but couldn't find any issue. I suspect a couple of short journeys weren't enough to get the noise started. Unfortunately, they are no longer interested so I took it to my local dealer in Norwich.
They took it out, acknowledged the noise, removed a few stones from the suspension arms and advised that there are no faults with the rear suspension parts. No noise for a couple of days and then it returned with a vengeance. Contacted the Norwich dealer again and they advised that only faulty components are covered by the Porsche warranty. Apparently, continuous, loud squeaking is acceptable.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andy

A suspension squeak can be a nightmare to trace, and what makes it so hard to trace on a 911 is the number of bushes which transmit suspension movements. 991 rear corner has 8 bushes, plus the rear steer joints, and anti roll bar fixings. If you want to be methodical, then you could spray some good quality silicone lubricant onto each bush one at a time, and then test drive to see which bush was at fault. The car is 7 years old, so it’s quite conceivable that one of the bushes is worn out.
Alternatively, just spray them all and be done with it..!
Hope you fix it

Thanks. Hopefully, they are all accessible!
I had wondered if a faulty shock could cause this?
Ideally get the car on a wheel free lift, and you should be able to access all the bushes. Alternatively do one corner at a time by taking a wheel off, but with centre locks this can be a pain.I had wondered if a faulty shock could cause this?
Unlikely to be a faulty shock; as they’re fluid filled, the moving parts tend not to come into contact to generate a squeak. Although with the car in the air, check the condition of the damper body and rubber bump stop and top mount, and make sure everything looks ok
I had the same issue for a few months, and in the end it did come down to a small stone wedged in between the coil and damper on the rear passenger side. It would stop for a couple of weeks, and then start again as it progressively wedged and un-wedged itself. In the end it was the head tech South London who found it - but only after coming out for a ride with me (it did take 2 visits over a few months to get it sorted though). The stone ended up door wedge shaped, where it was gradually wearing down.
