A dedicated 'biscuitter' would consider it a hobby.

Income, earning enough for Mrs D and kids to have
Family happiness, which means they'll leave me alone in my little
Free time, for
Hobbies/interests, which results in my
Personal happiness, giving me
Satisfaction/enjoyment, and I can get better at things I enjoy thereby giving me
Progression/personal development, and the rest can sod off including

40, my career is way down my priority list, I'm lucky enough to earn an average salary and I'm not looking to be rich beyond my wildest dreams, so I'd rather focus more on the 'life' side of life rather than the work side.

Few of those are pretty closely linked IMO. Here's my stab:
Personal happiness & Family happiness
Free time & Hobbies/interests
Non-toxic work environment
Satisfaction/enjoyment
Progression/personal development
Income
Age 40. I don't really have a "career" as such as I've chopped and changed roles and industries a fair bit. Had I stuck with an industry and climbed the greasy pole, I'd be more "senior" but I was never into the games / politics of it.
Instead, I chose to keep myself in work that I found interesting / engaging, and amongst peers that I both liked and respected. I got myself stuck in a couple of roles for longer than I should have but always managed to find a way to course correct.
More through luck than judgement, I've done "ok". I've earned both a lot more and a lot less than I currently do, and I've experienced some of the best and worst work environments (in terms of toxicity / people / culture) and that's given me some good insight / perspective as to what it is that makes me tick (i.e. it taught me that no amount of money can make up for day-to-day f
kery with people that are
s).
Looking back, I was probably happiest in my mid-20s. I'd started dating my now wife, I was earning reasonably well for my age (~£50k), and the work was (at the time) really interesting to me with people that were like family.
I've taken my foot off the gas when it comes to work a little bit by switching roles again, after pushing myself to my limits through 2020 and 2021 (to the point that it affected my health). But life's pretty good at the moment. We're comfortable, the bills are paid (for now!), I get to indulge in my hobbies and interests, the kiddo is well looked after, etc.

Tried the Jaffa jonuts when they first came out, they're good, really good but the OWW are eight for £1.59 so more orangey bang for your buck so to speak.
I would agree. And definitely not too orangey for crows. Now if Lidl or Aldi would get their s
t together and copy it, the VFM would be stratospheric.LimaDelta said:

If it helps, age or rough stage in your career can be added. If no family to consider just disregard that one.
The overwhelmingly most important (to me) is missing: Good health.Family happiness
Income
Satisfaction/enjoyment
Free time
Hobbies/interests
Progression/personal development
Non-toxic work environment

I'm 51, wife + 2 kids at school, good well paid job and I could probably walk out and do something that pays similar money relatively easily.
Of course it's very easy to be able to prioritise the upper ones when you don't really need to worry about the income one.
I don't think I've ever worked in a toxic environment, don't get involved in office politics, live and let live, worked with people I thought were dicks but thats about it. Also had some crap jobs, just made the best of it.
I don't want or need to progress, to manage, I know my products, I learn new ones when I need to. Don't see the value or have the time to train in something new or unrelated to work.
Happy to learn new stuff for fun

I'll tell you who needs to go against the wall, the parents of the 16yo girl we've had working for us over the summer. She had reached the age of 16 without ever having tried a Tunnocks Tea Cake!! What sort of parents are they FFS!!Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
