We own a number of HMO properties where we pay the bills. So they are residential, but we are a business and we are about to come to the end of a fixed-price business plan.

We don't know whether we are better off letting the plan end and relying upon the business energy price cap, or putting the bills in a tenant's name per property and paying the bills from our account.

The .Gov website seems to have limited information and our supplier, Eon Next, doesn't know.

I know that some of you work in energy and wondered whether any of you have a better idea. Any pointers gratefully received!

There was also an announcement of a fund to help tenants who have a communal heating bill. All a bit unclear at the moment as to how it will work.

I’m landlord to tenants in my warehouses and shared retail units and have been wondering similar. At the moment I think the best thing to do is sit tight and wait to see what they come up with then restructure to the best fit option when all the information is available.

We’ve just had the letter for the first of our sites and whilst it appears that Eon Next is abiding by the energy price promise (business) they have increased the standing charge by around 3.5 times.

The utilities have taken the P with standing charges and just got away with it, its cheaper for us to get a generator for electric!

As to gas, we are trying to get them gas cut off as the standing charge is more than using bottled gas for the 10 weeks a year we might have heating on! - They want over a grand just to take the bloody meter out!
