door pillars ?

after looking at loads of pic's of different cerb's i noticed that some seem to have a painted door pillar i.e(the down post from the roof to the bonnet by the wind screen), and some don't. is this a later body mod or is it just the different ways they are painted depending on the colour or something like that.

Painted door pillars as you describe are the new 2000 spec models - carbon fibre has been replaced by painted GRP. Other new '2000' mods include lightweight doors and bonnets, new rear light clusters, recessed rear plates and tuscan style seats. Might be some others but as I am running a '98 spec I am unaware of them

cheers dan thats put my mind at rest. ive just started looking for a 4.2 / 4.5 and just looking to see what differences there maybe and what year is best to go for and what to look out for.

I had mine painted, simple and looks better. The carbon flakes off.

Yup, they revised the roofline, flattened the forward roll bar and removed the sun visors.

You can get the 02 a pilars to fit the earlier cars, although the roof line is slightly different on the later model the end result is the same, I would advise using a good bodyshop / GRP specialist though as fitting them can be a bit tricky
