Replacing a dodgy electrical connection.
Discussion
I think I've traced an airbag fault to this connection. It's got wet/covered in rusty water at some point and I'm struggling to get to the pins inside to clean them up. It has two wires in each end so I assume it's just a case of cutting the wires and splicing them together.
However it's bigger and more complicated looking than I'd expect for a simple join and there's a spade shaped connector inside, although I don't think it's connected to anything.

Anyone got any reassuring or cautionary thoughts??

It looks like a housing for the spade connections youi mentioned. If so then you can probably get a direct replacement for a few quid by searching the part number on the side.
If it's prone to getting wet, then you might want to look at boat electrical suppliers for marine/waterprroof connectors.

if its not some priceless gem cut it out and fit an alternate socket thats easy to buy?...might find the corrosion has gone up the wire a bit too?
That was my thinking as it's a stopgap shed, I'm just worrying (/overthinking...) as it looks way more complicated than necessary.Polly/Greenv8s
That was my worry, hence the thread.
But it's the junction between the loom and the wire to the battery blow off terminal and there are only two wires in and out that enter the block in position to match the pins inside. Googling the part number comes up with the female end, so I'm going to see if there are any numbers in the male end and double check but I'm confident it's just the junction they use throughout the SRS system.

Something that doesn't make any sense to me, could be getting it wrong though as I haven't touched any air bag circuits for a few years.........
Why is something in the back of my head telling me that the terminals used in the airbag circuit are gold plated and the plug mouldings are yellow?
